Is there any bolt on parts or simple way to convert a hilux drum diff(rear) to disk? IE, parts From another vehicle or the likes?

Cheers

on toymods I was checking out a conversion that used Landcruiser parts IIRC.

(it was on the old toymods forum)

I have done this using MA70 Supra backing plate, rotors and calipers with a bit of machining.

I am selling the caliper brackets to do this conversion for $45 a pair plus postage.

Check out here (http://www.toymods.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2766).

GT - is there a similarly easy conversion for the F series, specifically from an 80's Tarago 4.3:1?

Well, you could use a Crown MS112 F series diff - it has the wide double row axle bearings and comes with disc brakes already (solid discs but piss easy to convert to vented - I did this to my Mk2). I keep telling everyone this and they keep ignoring me.

If you have used some other drum braked F series variant, then I'm led to believe that Corona RT141/2 discs, backing plates and calipers are the go. As usual, check first and expect some machining.

Thanks for that GT. Is there much difference in width between the MS112 and the Tarago jobbie? I am really after the 4.3 ratio too, the MS112 has a 3.9 doesn't it??

The MS112 runs a 4.1:1 ratio. The other major difference is that the axle bearings are big fat double row jobbies. The centres however are interchangeable.

As for width, I'm led to believe the Tarago is 1410mm hubface to hubface. Now I could have sworn black and blue that the MS112 was the same width (when I measured it to put one in my Mk2) but I keep getting told it's 1450mm. Mind you, that was nearly 5 years ago so my memory might not be serving me well. I really need to measure it again.
