Has anyone had the experience of comparing the same car with DBA slotted & DBA4000 slotted or slotted/x-drilled discs? I'm looking at getting the 4000's because I'm one of those people who believe you can never get brakes too strong (within reason). The Exa already has moved up to GTiR/N15 SSS brakes up the front but this would be the cherry on the top... almost (see below ;) )

Race Brakes recently announced generic style 4-spot calipers available soon... they had some importing delays but apparently these can be adapted onto most cars. I'm not 100% about getting them for a 257mm caliper like the GTiR discs at the moment, but if I can I'll be keen. Does anyone have any experiences yet with these? Thoughts?

Just about to put the new engine in... It won't be a rocket ship, but an Exa with 160 - 190kw sure as heck is going to be a fun to drive. :D As always, thanks for your time people...

Don't expect it to stop significantly better, but rather expect the rotors to cope with extreme temperatures better. On the flip side, if you're not going to be generating extreme temperatures (eg. road use only) then its perhaps money better spent elsewhere.

The cross-drilled ones are for looks only. The slotted work just as well and are cheaper. This was from DBA themselves and their own testing.

A 257mm front rotor is pretty small. Money would be better spent on bigger diameter rotors of any sort?

Yah x-drilled are unlikely, was just a consideration & I do agree with you. I'd like to fit larger rotors too, but would need a custom hat & brackets made up for the calipers to suit. Might be more expensive than its worth there too. Budget would be around 1000 - 1500. Else I'll just get normal DBA slotted & maybe these 4-pot calipers to suit. As it is, the car pulls up pretty well & much better than standard. I just like brakes I guess...

Usage is for road/light-track use & the odd hill climb.

Put the money in a term deposit until you start having brake problems, the N15 SSS rotors are quite thick from memory aren't they? (26mm?)

Hillclimbs are usually very easy on brakes because they're only ever short. Don't throw money at it unnecessarily, it's probably better spent on entry fees and costs to get you into more events.

Maybe go for some better pads first?

New calipers will need custom brackets anyway
And I doubt they would be bringing in something for such a small disc
But it is RB so anything could happen (depending who owns it this week)

Gday Dattoman,

You would know that I bought it from the adminisrator in Sept(after it hit the wall), it was left in a right mess, which you are also aware of, being so closley connected in the industry, you also know I have no intention of getting rid of it, so as far as who owns it this week, is there something I dont know about that you would like to share with us????
With kits to suit smaller discs this is something that is constantly under development,as you would know the effort that goes into this, it takes a while and monitoring these forums give us a gauge of what people want...

If you require and info on RB please dont hesitate to give me a call...

Cheers
KG

No worries Kev
Might do that as I have some questions on some kits
I didn't actually know you had finalised a deal to be honest
Being so far away all we hear is rumour and since we haven't spoken in a while I didn't know for sure
All I knew for sure was the moonman was out

Will have to catch up and chew the fat (do I call RB or GS?)

Cheers
Neil
