Hey guys

I'm upgrading the brakes on my KE55 as follows

Hilux 4 spot calipers on the front
Hilux diff/drums on the rear

Now seeing as this is going from the standard single pot fronts and stock drums, I would imagine that I'll need a master cylinder to suit these new requirements.

Anyone have any advice on how to choose a suitable master, or done a similar upgrade?

Actually now that I've written it down, maybe I should try to use a Hilux master? Thoughts?

2 possible masters Jap or PBR
Jap has round plastic fluid bottles PBR has 1 big rectangular one

For Jap system its a 2 bolt mount. The Hilux will be 4 bolt
Your original system is 3/4" has 2 outlets pointing straight up and 1 bottle on the cylinder and one remote
If you go to a JB1335 master cylinder the outlets are in the right spot. The mounting is right. You just have 2 bottles on the cylinder. But thats a simple task to remove one if it fouls on anything and refit the remote style off your old one. This cylinder is 7/8" bore which is actually larger than the 13/16" Hilux one you were probably thinking of.

If you have the PBR system
Use a larger 180B-Sunny-Commodore etc type cylinder. Available in various bore sizes from 3/4 to 1". I'd probably stick around the 7/8" size myself so you don't end up with a woody pedal
The best cylinder for this would probably be Sigma if you need 3 outlets or XT130 Corona if you only need the 2 outlets
You may just need to check the clearance from the booster pushrod to the piston as they are slightly different.
