Heard alot of good things about Pagid RS4-2 Blue pads so thought I'd price em up. $432 for the fronts and $385 for the rear!

Anyone know any places that sell these cheaper?

Only way to get them cheaper is to buy them out of UK or Europe yourself
All the Pagid seem to come thru BSM and everyone buys off him
So best make friends with a POM or Kraut

Some of these brake pads must be hand made with precious metals by elves for the price charged. Ridiculous.

Hand crafted by monks on the eastern side of the mountain at dawn on the backs of virgins......:D

there's a fair contrast in performance under duress between road pads like ulticraps and full house comp pads like RS4-2s or DS3000's...

I don't know why people compare them based on price..

They have never driven on them rowdy so they don't know the difference

Till you drive a fast car in anger with a set of really good brakes you can't appreciate them

Careful though........ once you get the "good brakes" bug there is no going back

Couldn't agree more datoman1000. Problem is that once you have used a real set of pads, the quest never ends.

Pagid Blues are quite good, but over priced and you can find better.
Sadly once you get into this realm you are on the border of fanaticisim and religion, so in the interests of maintaining friendships, I'm not saying anything more. Except that people who tell you that Bendix Ultimates are great haven't real brake pad, or just think they're going fast :p

JFTR, Pagid RS 4-2 were my first "real" pad. While I do like them, they have their issues and IMNSHO, there are better bangs for your bucks.

Cheers, Brenton

I'm not comparing pads based on price, its a street car that will have the occaisional (1 or 2 per year) track day so im not spending $817 on brake pads.

I've had Ultimates in a car before and wasnt very impressed, I know they do not compare to expensive race pads but for my application they will do.

Brenton: What would you recommend as better bang for buck?

Dattoman- agreed... although I wouldn't count the gemini as being in the good brakes department, but RS4-2s and DS3000's make them acceptable most of the time!! I'd like better almost nothing bigger fits under 13s...:(

Blackbart- probably more directed a 260DET than you.....

For project avatar car I'm going USA, a lot of the Euro stuff appears overpriced in comparison. Wilwood calipers and, maybe, Hawk pads. The Yanks as a rule price their stuff reasonably, none of this Eurosnob exclusive pricing rubbish.

Ultimates have served me well but with a faster car its time to move on up in the brake department.

hahaha, thought u were talking about women's products when i first saw the name of this thread!

What car have you got?

The MR2 was really good on Bendix Metal Kings, although no Ultimates were made for the AW11 so that wasn't an option. I've heard the Ultimates are chronic for releasing massive amounts of brake dust, but work really really well.

Green Stuff were also recommended, but damm $400 for a pair of pads!! Is this daily driven?

Thanks Dattoman, will do.

Might add that my cars are road registered so the brakes have to work well cold. Got enough to do at the track without changing brake pads too. If mine was a trailer queen it would be a lot easier, no difficult compramises to decide on and make.

DS3000's work fine cold... I'll happily drive the rally car 1/2 way across sydney in traffic... the work fine from cold in canberra on the road as well in mid winter..

DS2500 are a fair bit cheaper than DS3000, are more friendly around town. Would be a better bet for the weekend warrior or for something light.

Yeh well I've had some first and second hand experience with the DS2500 and 3000. Lets put it this way, being nice, they are not an option for me :)
