Go into your local Supercheap Auto / Autobarn or Repco etc and ask for one...

Dude...do you know how a 4 stroke engine works? If yes, then multiply it by 6 & you have the grey, red, blue & even black holden 6's completely sorted.
If you dont know how a 4 stroke engine works then look for it on how stuff works or somewhere like that.

If you want to get lots of power out of your 202, you will have a considerable amount of trouble, if you just want to make it go then it should be easy.

So, sort out your 4 stroke issues, buy a haynes/gregorys manual & then get out your cold chisel & sledge...err sorry I meant toolbox & start pulling that thing to bits.

So is the tram oil still in the engine?
Even if it has any oil in it that has been in it for 8 years or whatever it was, then I think you should drain the oil and replace it with new stuff.
Perhaps new tram oil.

Look into getting work experience this year or next at a garage somewhere, or find someone who can point out what different things are under a car bonnet.

Maybe go to howstuffworks.com and check under keywords like

internal combustion engine

ignition system

carburettor.

I could easily say that one of the best things you could do to get it to start a lot better would be to fit a blue motor hei dizzy and coil, but frankly it's not a straightforward job (the biggest challenge you'd face is revising the main ignition feed so that it gets a full 12volts and no way known I think you should attempt this as you'll likely end up with an fire caused by a short circuit as a result of this (or at best you'll not get it to work properly)

Call batman tafe - whichever campus is closest to you, but if the local one doesn't have one, call the charles st coburg campus (if you are currently out of highschool and the work experience idea isn't possible) and enquire if they have some sort of basic course in general car maintenance. You've got to have some sort of foundation or you'll just end up in trouble.

I could easily say that one of the best things you could do to get it to start a lot better would be to fit a blue motor hei dizzy and coil, but frankly it's not a straightforward job (the biggest challenge you'd face is revising the main ignition feed so that it gets a full 12volts and no way known I think you should attempt this as you'll likely end up with an fire caused by a short circuit as a result of this (or at best you'll not get it to work properly)

Call batman tafe - whichever campus is closest to you, but if the local one doesn't have one, call the charles st coburg campus (if you are currently out of highschool and the work experience idea isn't possible) and enquire if they have some sort of basic course in general car maintenance. You've got to have some sort of foundation or you'll just end up in trouble.

yeah, seriously, you can pick up a running red 202 from a wrecker for a couple of hundred bucks (fuck, you can get a whole running kingswood for a few hundred) so why not save yourself the pain??

i know some of the fun is in making old shit run, but sometimes you just have to LET IT GO.

clean carby, change oil, fit new plugs, some fresh fuel, and then give it a try... after you've done this much, you've probably already overcapitalised on the enigine in terms of both $ and time, so if it doesn't start, go find something more productive to do with your time.

Check these plugs, as they are often wired up badly. They go to the fuel pump controller and the traction control ecu and the abs box.

Check for leaks between both the turbos, as that is common. If it has been boosted for a while it might have damaged a turbine. They are ceramic in most of the kingswoods, especially utes.

Sometimes they get stuck in overdrive too, the gearbox ecu fixes that. Any good jap importer should have spares to swap and try.

big muz my kingswood is completely stock exept for extractors doesnt have overdrive turbo and ive necver seen those wires before :S the first time we took her out for a spin the exaust fell out and got mangeled under the car we had to chop it of so it finished just at the end of the extractors :S
