Car was a hand me down from my brother(thanks).

Raced it once at supernats( i think supernats 2002). Ran a 13.4@106mph on street tyres.



Car is now being completely rebuilt....as below

Motor: still the 2l pinto, cp pistons, argo rods, garrett turbo, tial external, PWR water to air cooler, 1000cc injectors,sx fuel reg, bosch 044, NOS fogger system, ported head(bigger valves, stronger valve springs), custom cam, custom inlet manifold, custom exhaust manifold. Not sure on computer yet, but most probably Haltech. Umm...thats all i can think of atm

Gearbox: C4 auto, box isnt actually built yet, probably going to use my brothers box until i buy mine. Stall size is undecided but going to be a nitrous convertor. Will also be running a transbrake.

Diff: Borg Warner. At the moment its running a lsd with 3.2:0 hearing. Gonna change to 4.11's and a full spool with 31spline billet axels. Also going to get the leaf springs redone so it dosent axle tramp.

Wheels: Convo Pro 15x4 with nankang cheapo's on the front for everyday and 15x10 with 26x11.5 mickey thompson et street radials.

I have both 15x8.5 with 26x11.5 mt et streets and 15x10 with 28x11.5 mt et streets so will see if the bigger tyres fit, if not, ill just put the smaller one's on.

Same here. My first car was a 2L cortina. I miss that car and I loved the pinto engine. Ripped an awesome skid.

What size turbo is the new one?

turbo is a gt35 with 66mm comp wheel, .82 rear housing.

Paull used to have a 2ltr escort, that thing was awesome. Still have fond memories of seeing it very sideways on a muddy dirt road in the middle of a forest, two rooster-tails emanating from the rear wheels.. sensational :D

Can't wait to see this when you've finished :)

My first car was a MARK1.. the 1300 Auto lasted a whole 2wks,before it shit itself, so I slapped a Cortina 2L and manual box.. it went for ever and I could not kill it !!.

Nice Stuff, it will be a Tuff Streeter.

I did the same thing about 10 years ago, only thing was the 2Lts lasted me about 4 weeks on aveage, i went thru 6 or 7 of them. Still had the 1300 diff gears in it, i'd be sitting on 5K Rpm just going down smith st. Good ole days.

yeah, started off with leafs, then was going for a ladder-bar and finally put the 4-link in it...should be much better.

well its got no back seat or interior, just 2 kirky seats...and everything else that isnt needed is gone, so hopefully get all the weight out of it. How much does your KE20 weigh?

then keeps going through stages of "if we keep it at this level it will get boring - lets take it up a notch..."
Looks like you are going to have one very fast car when finished - looking forward to to the Esky vs KE20 challenge! although who to barrack for has got me stumped - they are pretty much my two favorite engines sitting in well finished small cars...

BTW - what are you planning to do with the engine? you did mention 1000hp before...
