Being a Nissan fan and having built an FJ20T Bluebird Wagon, Then SR20DET Bluebird Sedan, then Nissan SVD R31 GTSII RB30ET
I thought it was time to stop mucking around and get the complete package from the factory.
After a few weeks looking (Having signed up with Prestige) I was offered this over the phone:
http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/gtr1.jpghttp://users.tpg.com.au/realj/gtr2.jpg
It was pretty well stock, in good condition 66'800kms and had the 34 GTR rims which was the sealer for me.
I ended up getting it at auction for $12400.
A few weeks later I recieved a few more pics from the Holding yard, which I scrutenized almost daily until the car arrived.
http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/mygtr1.JPGhttp://users.tpg.com.au/realj/mygtr3.JPG
A few months later and I recieved the car, just over $20'000 landed, complied and licensed...I need'nt have worried apart from dodgy AC (Now fixed) and a few very small dings it was in fantastic condition and drove well.
http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/home1.jpg
http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/home2.jpg
My intention is to keep the car looking as factory as possible, so in keeping with the R34 theme...well it had the wheels, thats enough to start a theme  The Interior copped a few bits which are a must for me, such as the MOMO wheel and MOMO Gearknob, plus Sparco seating...oh and a new (Subtle) Stereo and speakers
http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/GTRinterior1.jpg
http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/GTRinterior2.jpg
I replaced the standard Ceramic wheel turbos straight away with Garrett GT2560R's, and fitted Trust/ Greddy front and Dump Pipes, this returned 315rwHP @ just under 14psi (No Boost controller fitted, but restrictor removed)
AFR's are now shithouse however so PFC and Cam gears are coming soon, but car will never be Big HP GTR so will limit to under 400rwHP.
Car feels quite slow, maybe because power delivery is a lot more linear than cars I have had in the past, and revs a fair bit higher also, even so a quick trip to the drags ( 3 runs only) revealed it is quicker than expected with all 12.6 at 182kmh, and this was just nursing it off the line for 2.1 60fts (Not into drag racing so not dumping it off the line to shave few tenths...anyone that knows drag racing can work out how fast it could be if I did )

Next was a trip to Barbagello, Road tyres were crap so fitted 265/35/18 Federal 595RS's semi semi slicks, these made huge difference
http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/Barbagallo.jpg

8c8pZFK_s8I

Standard brakes I found to be only average in power so were upgraded to these Brembo F50 Jobbies

http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/Bremb01.jpg
http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/gtrint3.jpg

Car very rarely gets driven, in two years of ownership I have travelled only 8000kms, and only really comes out for Cruizes, the odd track day and to take Neighbours / Friends / Family on Joyrides (All Non Car people so is quite an experience for them  )

Well after being on the backburner for a while I have been spending a bit of time on my GTR lately, in a (Futile) attempt to get it just as I want it :)

First up was the fitment of this, as although in day to day driving the old standard clutch was fine it did slur a little on hard changes.

http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/gtrclutch.jpg

Its an Extreme Single plate 6 puck ceramic clutch, it is cheap effective and drives just like a normal GTR, it seriously is that smooth.
I have no need for Multiplate clucthes.

After fitting the clutch I took it back to the drags, with a bit more bite off the line, yet still an easy(ish) 1.9 60ft it ran a 12.4.

http://www.circlework.com.au/cgi-bin/pro/emAlbum.cgi?c=show_image;p=Drag%20Racing/070221%20-%20Whoopass%20Wednesday;i=155;img=070221-163tc-whoopass.jpg

http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/gtrdrags.jpg

From there I have fitted a PFC and PFC boost controller (Non D-Jetro), on the same dyno it produced 315rwHP @ 14psi, it has now jumped to a fairly impressive 390rwHP at 18psi.
Probably the most impressive / Suprizing thing about it is...there is still infact quite a bit more in it, there is still 2 degress or so of timing left in it, 3 psi of boost and my rev limit is set at 7500rpm they estimate: 420rwHP @ 21psi if I choose to do so, but as this is a standard engine, with standard Cams, Cam gears, injectors, AFM's I will leave the power level as is.

http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/390rwhp.jpg

Still dos'nt feel fast however :(
(until you look at he speedo)
Certainly not what I would expect a car with 400rwHP to feel like anyway, theres still no distinct shove in the back just seems to hit the rev limit (much) quicker in each gear now.....

Thanx for the comments guys, good to hear as car gets very little attention when taken out (seems to be lacking Gauges / Graphics / stcikers & Carbon fibre etc apparently!?)

No suspension mods as yet, although is next on agenda, for lap times and Asthetics (everyone says it sits to high!)

Other than that an interior retrim is on the cards as I really do not like the standard GTR R32 fabrics...no I'm not gay...just want a more 'Euro' Quality feel to it :p

*Quick Update*

Just had the interior retrimmed to match the pair of Sparco Sprint V seats in the front.

It includes:

Retrimmed Back seat to match front including Sparco logos
Retrimmed Door Inserts as well as A B & C pillars
Retrimmed Headlining and Sun Visors
Retrimmed Gear and Handbrake boots
New Plush pile carpet

Overall it looks pretty 'sporty' and has given the usually drab R32 GTR interior one hell of a lift.

Heres a few early photos although they dont really do it justice, will get some better ones later.

Cplus wouldn't it have been cheaper to retrim the sparco's

Was going to retrim the standard GTR interior in leather as I wanted an AUDI feel to it, but I figured the standard interior is pretty basic and at the end of the day it would look like a cheap car with leather seats, so went for the 'sporty' look instead.

Amazing car, obviously said enough, but very nicely done.

My mates GTR R32 feels the same, no big "hit" of power once boost comes on like big power 2.0's very linear but you watch the speedo or the road and you know you are getting to the speed limit very quickly.

Yeah I think anyone coming from a Big turbo'd 4, or even single turbo'd 6 would be dissapointed going for a ride in a small Twin Turbo'd GTR like mine, (in a straight line anyway) as theres no real rush of power, its so linear its boring

Since fitting the PFC i've always had my Rev limit set to 7500rpm, which is about 700rpm short of the factory limit, this may not be helping matters as far as ET's and MPH are concerned, but its an old motor and its normally the last few revs that are the most damaging so I will live with it :)

(Having said that I have been thinking of going back to the drags, raise the rev limit, and see if I can run the car over the line in 3rd rather than last minute change to 4th)

Sooo, I fitted my new Whiteline swaybars today, it was a fair bit more challenging than my recent sticker applications!

The Whiteline bars are a 'lot' heavier than the standard hollow ones, I was going to weigh them but all scales have been removed from our house by the Mrs.......

Now being a male I threw the instruction sheets out for the swaybars...and now have a question regarding the install of them....
Basically the car is on 4 axle stands wheels at full droop, shouldn't I drop the car down so load is on the suspension before tightening? And if so how the fark am I supposed to get under it to do so!?

I don't have a hoist obviously.

Rears you can tighten while it's on the ground if you aren't a fat bastard..

Although the fronts I remember just lowering each side to do with the wheel off.

I thought the whole idea of doing them up on the ground was so that both wheels were flat on the ground, so the load was was spread evenly?

lysdexia
17-07-09, 12:22 PM
best way to do it is with the wheels on ramps, rather than using axle stands. if you don't have ramps, stick some wheels on the ground and lower the car unto those.

they really should be done up with the car sitting level with weight on it though, otherwise you crush the link bushes on an angle

PLAYA

when doing the links they recommend doing with the wheels on the ground so using a jack to get wheel up would be fine.

bigmuz
17-07-09, 09:34 PM
if you are worried about it jacking one wheel up in the air is retarded- that is the MOST stressed the bushes will ever get.

Put it on ramps or just do them up with the wheels hanging low. The absolute worst thing that will happen is a bush will squeak.

KanaL
17-07-09, 10:34 PM
even driving up onto a driveway should give you a little more clearance if you really want to tighten them up loaded... i still think PLAYA's got the right idea anyhow

GTREA
18-07-09, 08:38 PM
Well I got my arse into gear this arvo and tightened up the swaybars, just jacked each wheel up individually whilst on the axle stands and tightened.

Car creaked and groaned a little driving out of my driveway and around the first few corners but then dissapeared.

Can't really say i can feel any difference though..!.?

Certainly nothing substantially different in the way the car feels....

Its a bit hard to tell on Public roads though, and it is wet in Perth atm, so will reserve judgement until later.

but geez does it get sideways in the wet, so easy to do, so easy to control, much fun...must drive this thing more often :)

What are you NOR cunts doing down my neck of the woods Tom! :p

Hansen just lives down the road from me so everynow and again I drop the car off at his place when I want some work done on it, he drives it in and then drops it back off at my joint...easy!

Its just having the HICAS removed at the moment....... a 27kg weight saving ;)

Should have it back by Friday for this Midvale Speedome thing.

Did you generate all that fresh rubber in the gaurds?

;)

hahaa - Hanson is a champ, buy him a bottle of 18 year old Glennfidich if you want a friend for life.

I stopped in to say hi, hadnt been down for ages. Probably come down to say hello on Sat, cars not up to racing yet.

Spent enough time in that place, so many late nights getting high off dyno fumes.

Yeah free Crownies at Hansons the other night, although he dosnt drink beer:)

Hmm yeah fresh rubber would have been from last weekend, and the reason the cars in the workshop....ATTESSA took a dump and was 2WD only...and well you can guess the rest :)

On an unrelated note I jacked the GTR up from Only the front left suspension arm the other day, and it lifted both front wheels off the floor almost similtaniously!

must be a fairly stiff chassis now? Never had a car do that before!?

When i jacked up the MA61 one of the chassis rails is a bit crushed, so it was happily sitting on 3 jack stands.
The Sprinter can be jacked up from one LCA and it will balance on the opposite wheel. But its caged and stitch welded.

:D

I must admit I was a little worried what the natural sunlight would do to it when I took it out!

The fuel tank was almost full and the fuel reciept in the centre console was from the 3rd March :O

Running costs?

Just do what I do.....dont drive it....then there are no running costs! :)

Seriously though, apart from a fan thru the radiator when I first bought it, due to a seized water pump (New water pump, 2nd hand fan and rad = $600 fix all up) and a broken CV joint boot....nothing at all has gone wrong with it in the 10'000kms I have put on it in 5 years....which is pretty good I reckon :yup:

I'm stilll running on the fuel from March 09 actually :D

Dosnt seem to bother it, still performs well - smoked a GTO Monaro a couple of times the other night without to much effort.....or audible detonation.

And due to all the wanking I have done over the years it has endowed me with very sensitive ears and I could hear detonation at 8000rpm :D
