View Full Version : rx3 + rx8
My rx3 I'm building. Rx8 6 port, motec, new paint etc. Hope to have running by the new year, have owned it since march 06. It's not green, the digital camera wont pick up the colour, it's actually the colour of a blue tarp.
might need to refresh pics. Cheers

i think your screen is shagged, coz on mine, the car IS the colour of a blue tarp.
only MUCH MUCH less wrinkles!!
Lookin sweet!! Love rx3's!
She runs! sounds like a giant angry chainsaw!:D Got the motec fairly sorted, full tune to follow after full reassembly. Happy as a dog with two dicks:)
Pics? This needs more pics :yup:

Why does it need 2 mod plates?

Run out of space or could have had other modifications done to the car previously.
As far as i know once a mod plate is attached to a vehicle it cannot be removed, even if you reverse the modifications & have it re-complianced.
The Soarer I just sold had 2 mod plates, modded for two different reasons at two different times by two different engineeres.
Btw, love the car mate….. looks great (and great conversion).
Thanks fella's. Taken me a while but I'm happy with it, no shortcuts.
psi999 spot on with the mod plates. Got codes for engine box on one, and harnesses on the other due to space.
awesome. what do these 13b plastic ported puppies produce when 'let free'

what did the engine cost?
I like this, well done Karl! Should go really well id imagine!
Very nice!
The blue actually looks a lot more aqua on my screen, not really blue tarp?
The blue tarp on the ground behind the car is good for a comparison.

Wow, thats f#cking awesome. Good, usable power, decent emissions, modern driveability - all rare things in the early mazda world I'd expect.
Have you seen that jap SA22C RX7 with the same motor, and all the RX8 dash etc in it?

well done son! nice little conversion. should be nice to drive too! there's an rx8 supercharger kit for sale in Ausrotary. it would be a great little addition to the setup!!:yup:
maddy- hoping for 135kw@wheels. Engines usually dyno at 235hp at crank.
kula- $2500 for engine with clutch. Ex test engine, never been in a car.
blur- Thanks Adrian. How's your r100 going, found all your bits yet?:D
floody- That japanese rx7 is nicely put together. It had a brand new motor.
bernie-rx7- Thanks mate. It would need exhaust port re-think for supercharger. Also my standard diff wouldn't agree:)
There is a nice RX3 with an RX8 engine floating around in Sydney.
Nice job on yours too
excuse my ignorence but whats that smaller looking inlet tract at the front of the engine?
The runner at the front is the "high power" 6 port. The centre part of the manifold has four runners, 2 primaries in the middle and 2 secondaries on the outside plate. The high power ports are above the secondaries and only open at high revs. The car idles with the primary ports only.
The auto rx8's are only 4 port.
On the road rego'd now. Goes great but still needs full tune.:D I'm also a professional photographer

$2500 for an rx8 engine?
i would have thought it would have been double that?
sounds like a good score!
Wow looking very nice there, make sure you post the progress on Ausrotary!
Just went for a ride in this. Very fast car + insane driver = good times.
Thanks Mr K
ex-test engine from development program in japan.
