Mate, I'm trying to _help_ you sell it. As you no doubt know, nike runners and kitchens and kitchen tiles are available in the US. You've got a digital camera, you access the net daily, so I believe it wouldn't be putting you out majorly to do that. If not, there's probably a number of people here who wouldn't want to take the risk. This is an item in high demand, and people 'want to believe' they can have it for a bargain price, so there are some people out there who would know that, and run a scam and not even have the actual part, and use pics from a US website to help back it up.

I _don't_ think that you are one of those types of people, but putting the picture of the newspaper up would probably put to rest the concerns of anyone else reading this, who has not put their hand up for the item, simply because of that concern.

This is your first lot of posts here to performance forums. If you had been here a while, people would have gotten to know you, and know your stuff for sale is 100% legit. Since you are new, it might take a little while (just like it took everyone else) so you can understand that doing the little things like this would help you 10 times more than it would help me, I'm only trying to help you out mate.

Just because you don't justify paying this much on a Branded Intake, doesn't mean others will think the same way.
Everyone knows you can get a Tube and Filter for $40 on eBay, but if you want the extra assurance, knowing things will exactly fit and won't f**k up your ride after 2 to 3 months, then something like Fujita will do the trick.
Fujita is well backed up by Injen, which shares the same intake filter design. Goto autobarn and check out how much is an injen filter then come and spam me.
So having said that, I didn't rip anyone off. Fujita CAI sells for as much as $500-$600 depending on models. Maybe not many of yous have Civic in this forum but I can assure you Fujita's are hard to find products in AUS.

I'm going to do a couple of things.

1. take a bow.

2. explain 'the shit' to the new guy.

SLPJCooL - lookup satire in a dictionary. It's where you pretend to be serious, then don't.

The whole 'deal' with performance forums is as follows. We _are_ a bunch of grumpy cunts, but if you want genuine advice, you'll get it. 100%. And that means if we have to tell you that someone has ripped you off and told you what you've done to your car as a result of their advice is bullshit, then we'll tell them.

Look up (I suppose it will be on wiki, but I haven't looked, I remember the story from my childhood, mostly because it so well describes humanity by and large) the story of 'the emperors new clothes'. Where everyone could see he wasn't wearing any, but rather than admit they were idiots (as they said the fabric was so fine only intelligent people would see it) pretended they could see them. This goes for the performance aftermarket times 1 million. Take some bullshit part, that at best adds a token few % power, and then make out that only this or that company (which ironically probably pays 50cents per week to their staff in some sth east asian sweatshop, ironically like the nike sneakers as well, double the irony, double your money) knows the magical mystical ninja secret design, and that any pipe identical in shape made at home wouldn't work at all. Then, after spending maybe $1 to make the part, and $5 to market it (per unit, if that) they sell for $300+ . Along come some blokes who don't know too much about cars, but are insecure enough to think that _actually admitting_ they don't know would be too devastating, so they bluff their way through. They pay these ridiculous markups for an item they could replicate for about (seriously) $5 + plus the cost of the filter if the original includes it, or $5 if not - and if you doubt that I'll prove it, but I want $150 from you when I do, just for doubting me. So these guys spend heaps. The car is fuck all faster. But their self esteem is so heavily invested in the bullshit that they know about cars, so they have to say 'yeah, it works good, yo, only use the genuine shit dawg, a home made one will never work'

You have a chance to be _more than that_ . You may have fallen for my stir (as if you didn't know nikes and kitchen tiles existed elsewhere, how much more obvious could I be, the reason you 'fell' for it was because I appealed to your greed, suggesting it would help the sale, so that's all you focused on) but at the same time you have stood up to the light hearted jokes you've been subjected to.

If you want to learn about what works and what doesn't, stick around and ask questions. Asking questions isn't a sign of stupidity, it's a sign of someone who is strong enough to admit they don't know everything, and want to change that. The bloke that says he knows it all, well he didn't learn anything new today, because he knows it all. He didn't learn anything new yesterday, because he knew it all then. Or the day before, or the day before. Even Smokey Yunick (who you have probably never heard of, but would learn a shitload from even though he has since moved on to the race workshop in the sky (and is probably pissing off jesus, as he's getting away with rule bending that makes walking on water look mediocre)) at one point in time new nothing about engines. He did come up in a time where he certainly asked a lot of questions, but he also asked them of himself, and worked out ways to accurately test each and every question, find out for himself, and become outstanding.

You have the choice - be mediocre, but sound like you know your shit on some of the rice/wanker forums. Do _all_ the testing yourself, getting little recognition, and sacrificing heaps of your life to that goal. Or thirdly, asking from everyone else who has been humble enough to ask themselves, or sacrifice their own time. Learn from their mistakes (and their successes too). You won't find these people hanging out too much at car meets, unless they work in the industry full time, or at cruises, or other stuff. unlike the bulldust on fast and the furious, to do this whilst working a full time job and doing right by your family, means you have to sacrifice what little personal time you have left.

In a nutshell, the guys that can actually help won't 'look' like moviestars, or be at the places to be seen. But they exist in places like this. Without question, the advice here will either be misunderstood, or bagged on by other forums, and we would be outnumbered. But that's a combination of ignorance, and the emperor's new clothes paradigm.

Let's take a further look at things however. You aren't 'innocent'. You didn't come here to ask questions, and thusfar, offer any help. You figured you'd come over to here, and plaster your ads here, and _use_ the forum just to make some cash from (if you could) . That's like breaking into someone's house and eating their food. If you were a neighbour, and had helped out the neighbours, had barbecues or whatever, then asking the neighbour for a litre of milk, or a hand cutting down a tree, or whatever would be cool. But you are only in this for what you can get out of it.

That, more so than the fact you seem a little mis-informed about the performance potential of the item you sold, is why people are making jokes. Yes the _subject_ matter may be the performance potential, or lack thereof, but the motivation to post (aside from amusement per se) is that you wanted to use us.

By all means hang around, I'm a poster, not a mod, so have no say in it anyway, but for fuck's sake read a few posts and have a go at contributing before just using the forum as a type of slave labour to market your wares.

p.s. taking a bow - this is second only to convincing a homophobe friend to see the movie 'head on' with a bunch of his workmates.

Thanx for the In Depth comments jmac and I totally agree with what you're trying to say.

We all know that a pipe with a filter does the same thing, and the fact that it brings up f**k all HP gain means that spending this amount of money seem Stupid (Expecially on a SlowAss civic). But the thing is, people want 'branded' stuff. Just like Nike. You compare that Nike makes about 50000% profit into a pair of shoe, and yet people still line up for them no matter how much they cost. It's 'BRANDING'. I'm sure that if you compare a Nike sneaker and a Dunlop sneaker, you'll probably get the same comfort and support, if not better, Yet Nike is one of the world's biggest money making company. If comsumers think it's worth it, then so be it.
I know people who knows his shit will laugh and point at them saying 'what a stupid MoFo', yet there are ALOT of these so called 'MoFo's' around in the world (Yes...all those MoFo's at the other 'ricer/wanker forums'). They don't care if it works the same, they don't care if they can save hundreds on the same product. Try asking a DieHard Nike SneakerFreaker to switch to Dunlops.....that's impossible! Sure, everyone knows he's wasting money, everyone knows he's a stupid MoFo, yet he still keep on lining up at 2am in the morning just to get his hands onto a fresh pair of 'Limited Edition' Jordans.
So there's no right or wrong here. It's just a matter of people who know's his shit, and people who doesn't give a crap about it. As for me, I wanna know my stuff in the auto field, only as a hobbie. I just haven't got the time and commitment to do so. And for all for you guys that actually knows 'Your Shit', full props for you!
So agree with me or not, it's up to you. It's a free world.

Just quietly, changing the topic of this thread ended up being one of the more entertaining things I've done recently...
