WTB - Cheap UTE, WAGON, or Hatch Back ($1000)

Hi there, looking for a first car, looking for something that will last a few years, must be road worthy and have a few months rego. I would like something like a small ute (no need for a tray, I can get one later if I must), wagon or a hatch back. Holden or Toyota maybe? really anything descent for under $1000 prefered manual as I need the practise, I am in Newcastle area and have cash.
