welcome onboard mate.
car looks good. plenty of good info on here - have a search around. there was some interest in similar motors to your not long ago and quite a few I6 experts on here.

neat audio install.

Welcome to PF mate.

12-03-07, 10:10 PM
some of you guys are fucking morons.
deadset - a new member joins and writes a decent post with car photos and modification details.
english, spelling and grammar is certainly above required to comprehend.
so what if his modifications are not to your taste - shut your mouths and deal with it.

Bogworthy - you modify charades, are you really in a position to judge? i didnt think so.

unless there is a specific sticky on all forums stating clearly that there are not to be any " NEW MEMBER" threads then the guy hasn't done too much wrong.

12-03-07, 10:29 PM
See that is the Gruntrose I remember.

Welcome aboard. I don't know how much tech info will be of use to you with the mod path you have chosen. Ford forums and boostcruising will have a fair bit of info re those type of modifications.

I miss my Farimont and from all accounts it has been a good bus for the new owner

12-03-07, 10:53 PM
welcome mate.

6 neons? -you'll fit in well

Venomous EL
12-03-07, 11:14 PM
6 neons is only the start. I am looking into blue LEDs for all my dash lights plus another 4 6inch neons and 2 of the longer underbody type neons for the front and rear bars

12-03-07, 11:16 PM
why only 6 neons?

12-03-07, 11:17 PM
Welcome aboard. But this is a anti rice forum, so here is a tip, keep the stuff about neon's and blue vinyl on the boostcruising forum, or you will have shit slung on you.

This is PERFORMANCE forums. Ask about performance mods, talk about performance, and you will fit in just fine. :)

12-03-07, 11:17 PM
Cool car man, love the old school falcons, my grandfather had one.

Love the engine paint as well, looks like ya ran out of paint, but you faded it really well... very different.

Dun worry about the haters here, I think neons are cool, and more the better.

Anyway nothing to add except welcome to PF ...

13-03-07, 01:13 AM
EL Falcons are "old school" now?

Can I make a small suggestion? Do this:

I am researching all my opions for my power. a turbo would be great and it would stop people telling my that the front end of my car is missing something due to the front bar, but forced induction will be the last thing done. I dont see the point of putting a turbo on then constantly having to fix other parts because they keep braking. A the moment I am looking i nto a manual conversion that has all the gear already with it to handle some boost

The Pupat

why only 6 neons?

6 Chrysler Neons sounds like 6 too many to me.

Ohh and aren't those taxi auto's fairly tough? An turbo'd auto 6-cyl falcon would be a rather tough thing and would be fairly reliable (or at least could be made fairly reliable for not a huge amount of dollars).
Good luck personally I'd turbo it rather than arse about with cams etc.

13-03-07, 11:14 AM
Pupat is right, the ford trans can be modified fairly cheaply to be plenty tough & the EL six is a strong engine that responds VERY well to boost, leave the engine stock & fit a turbo running low boost 6-10psi & it'll hammer, the rest of the driveline will cope just fine.
You can even buy the manifolds etc off the shelf, at least one guy on here does them.

Forget the bloody neons - top of the list for worthless rice mod.

13-03-07, 11:31 AM
I dont see the point of putting a turbo on then constantly having to fix other parts because they keep braking.
Why not? This is the PF way.

13-03-07, 11:37 AM

hope your blue replacement lights work out better than my brother's red ones - can't see shit at night.

tip: the LEDs are too directional to provide good illumination behind the dash, go for standard globes with a blue cover.

13-03-07, 11:39 AM
hi ya mate and welcome to PF tidy looking ride you have there but yeah must say ditch the neons* and whack a dirty great fuck-off lung on it the rest of the driveline will cope with a moderate amount of boost even if it doesnt there are tried and proven ways to beef it up ..

cheers mate

* each to there own i spose thats what makes us individual

13-03-07, 11:41 AM
xr6turbo motor conversion needed... they gotta be getting cheap by now?

apart from that, i agree with the other blokes lose the neons and let us never speak of them again and im sure you'll fit in just fine here.

I would rather build the car to take some abuse. Its always better to spend a little bit more in the first place and do it right. Also this car is the family runabout so it need to be relialbe

You wouldn't even bother. The internals are basically the same minus 12 valves and a cam shaft which aren't going to matter a huge amount with a hairdryer on the side.

Venomous EL
13-03-07, 01:13 PM
that plus a xr6 turbo motor wont fit under the bonnet of an ef/el with out crossmember mods and either a hole cut in the bonnet or some stupid looking scoop

14-03-07, 09:24 AM
Do you need a spare passenger side mirror? If so, pm psi999 - he's the early falcon wrecker specialist

Venomous EL
14-03-07, 11:08 AM
the car is complete, but i might be looking for interior parts to modify

14-03-07, 12:22 PM
If you need any XF door handles let me know.

14-03-07, 12:39 PM
You have XF door handles that aren't broken? :p

14-03-07, 01:09 PM
I have a rare supply of N.O.S. XF door handles available from my supplier.

14-03-07, 01:09 PM
You have XF door handles that aren't broken? :p

If your cars don't go you have no reason to get inside them :D

15-03-07, 08:59 AM
do the door handles come with a carry bag and drink bottle?

15-03-07, 12:37 PM
do the door handles come with a carry bag and drink bottle?

Yes, NOS drink.

16-03-07, 08:18 PM
ok today i started to make the dash look better and fixed up the badges on the back of the car

16-03-07, 08:32 PM
You wouldn't even bother. The internals are basically the same minus 12 valves and a cam shaft which aren't going to matter a huge amount with a hairdryer on the side.

Now you tell me!!

The car will be fine with a low boost setup running 180-220rwkw with a good tune. No reason for anything to break if you up the line pressure in the trans.

Ive had 3 turbo falcons now. Once you get one you will never consider fitting a cam to increase NA powa again!!11

16-03-07, 08:54 PM
Bah. Twin cam all the way!

I havent posted here for a while, so I tought I may post up some pics and info of wat i have been doing to it. So I have now fitted some 19 inch BF 2 typhoon copy wheels in pre au offset, fitted a bonnet scoop and added some custom mounted gauges. I have also started on my boot fit out after i installed a sub and amp. The boot fit out will inclued a 15 inch lcd screen and speakers as well as all the cables to plug my laptop into the stereo. I the next week I will start on my custom induction set up to use the bonnet scoop. Anyways here are some pics.

Going to be honest here, your car isn't my cup of tea, BUT if you installed those guages in the centre console yourself, I take my hat off to your sir that is an awesome job.

Venomous EL
11-06-07, 10:22 PM
I have done all the work on my car since i bought it, inclueding the gauges and the tv screen

12-06-07, 12:23 AM
When does the turbo go on ?? :)

12-06-07, 03:03 PM
You know what, those gauges went in pretty well, in fact if I'd never seen them I wouldn't even think they looked like they were just mashed in where ever they would fit and then splattered with body filler. Top work.

Venomous EL
12-06-07, 04:42 PM
turbo is a long way off at the moment unless I find a deal to good to pass up and I can afford

12-06-07, 07:06 PM
Er, how much did the tasteful bonnet scoop, paint and the gauge install cost? How much did this set back your budget for turbocharging?

12-06-07, 07:23 PM
pull your head in boys

nice car mate!

like bob saget said awesome work on the custom guages

12-06-07, 07:38 PM
that plus a xr6 turbo motor wont fit under the bonnet of an ef/el with out crossmember mods and either a hole cut in the bonnet or some stupid looking scoop

...fitted a bonnet scoop..

so when does the XR6 Turbo motor go in? :)

just teasin' ;)

I've gotta say, as much as I hate to admit it, I like those new wheels.

Venomous EL
13-06-07, 01:12 PM
the bonnet scoop with paint and the guages and the stuff I used to mount them cost lest then $250

13-06-07, 01:16 PM
coming along nicely mate..

what are all the switches for in your console.

i like the guage install, is that the finished result or do you plan to tidy it up a bit

13-06-07, 05:00 PM
Smooth install on the gauges!

Venomous EL
13-06-07, 07:42 PM
I have since removed the guage directly underneath the screen as it kept cracking and the screen was hard to remove. So now there is only the guage next to the shifter remains in that location. The switches on the console are for amp, interior lights, boot lights and power front windows

13-06-07, 08:55 PM
Where'd you get the rims? Showed a mate a pic of your car, and now he's desperate for a set for his EL.

Venomous EL
14-06-07, 09:59 AM
I got them from a place in brisbane. The wheel are BF 2 F6 typhoon copy wheels in a pre au offset. I do know of on shop that has them, otherwise try wheels direct. Also they are only avalible 19 x 8

On the weekend I picked up some good second hand EL tail lights that are in better condition then the ones on my car, so I did some creative tinting and fitted them to my car. Now the lights that were on my car have now become my latest custom mod, which I started today by smashing the lenses off. Durring the week I will start finding all the suitable parts I need to complete my custom lights and try to start building them next week. So here are some pics of the new lights on the car and the start of the custom lights.

18-06-07, 12:02 PM
you can buy altezza style light from autobahn cant you...
or is that not the direction your heading

Venomous EL
18-06-07, 12:47 PM
I hate the clear lights, plus the legallity of those lights for an EL. The clear lights dont have the red reflector so i am unsure if they are legal. I am basiclly changing the lense so it will legal when i am finished

I haven't updated this in a little while so since my last post I have had a hi flow cat fitted, custom side indictors finished, damage on one door fixed, new boot fitted and painted with EL GT copy spoiler fitted, fitted a pioneer dvd head unit, fitted a digital tv tuner, purchased new sub, started fitting a 10.4 lcd touch screen in the boot, run all the cables for the boot screen and the laptop, fitted a custom mesh grille with custom badge, repainted the engine bay and started on a custom set of tail lights. Any ways here are some pics

10-09-07, 06:45 PM
hey whats with the 10.4" lcd? Do you have passengers that ride in your boot or something?

Anways Bolt BA motor in and turbo that you have a scoop now :)

and maybe u should debadge it as well and remove that aerial thing.

Venomous EL
10-09-07, 07:02 PM
the screen in the boot is removalable and is for showing, also the aerial on the roof is for the digital tv tuner

10-09-07, 07:04 PM
I think you can get internal aerials, might want to look into that? Just looks a bit dodgy the way it is now.

10-09-07, 07:05 PM
How many shows have you entered/won?

Venomous EL
10-09-07, 07:33 PM
i have only taken it to one show since I have owned it but have 3 coming up in the the next 10 weeks or so. As for the aerial I have been unable to find an internal aerial to suit as all the internal one for cars use a different plug arrangement to what I have. I dont mind the aerial its self but I am trying to work out a better way to intergrate it better into the car. Also I could be removing all the aerials completely and hiding them inside the boot spoiler

10-09-07, 07:57 PM
these days you need a turbo to win car shows, you should be able to get it done in 10 weeks :)

Venomous EL
11-09-07, 01:43 AM
i dont want turbo. plus the money involved and time the car needs to be off the road means it cant be done atm. You need to remember this is the daily driven family taxi, so it cant be off the road
