gave the interior a good clean
some new pics....:)
wats everyones opinion on the grille?

22-05-07, 06:19 PM
nice old school turbo setup. Shin-slicers make me nervous though. What pumps are those you are using in the back?

22-05-07, 06:32 PM
lol what are shinslicers?!
its using twin holley blue fuel pumps
heres a short video of the boost guage, pretty shitty but yeh lol
didnt realise it was getting such high boost :s

22-05-07, 06:35 PM
the gauge bracket under the steering wheel:

I'd mount them somewhere else lol

I didn't recognise the holley blues after they were painted white lol

22-05-07, 06:38 PM
ahh haha, yeah the guages are now in the centre console bit
and yeh theyre now holley white pumps i guess lol

this is all a work in progress by the way...
still a bit rough round the edges ;)

oh how things change!
the car was converted to straight gas with a shit tune, then i decided to clean up the bay a bit, shit got out of hand, now the car is stripped waiting to be resprayed.
its off to the panel shop in the next few weeks to be sprayed in metallic dark violett and the 202 will be ditched for a 2JZ conversion mated to my glide a early next year :)
theres a fair few other random stories and aventures in between, but none of them really affect the outcome lol
heres a few random pics for yall
trial fitting cooler that never got fitted lol
chasers for a change
gear to convert to n/a for rego

22-07-08, 01:11 AM
this is where it all began lol
a 'quick' clean up in the bay
bought some internationals, which i later sold for a mad profit
my paint

22-07-08, 01:14 AM
the thought fuck it, lets repsray it lol

and this is how its sitting atm! waiting for my painted to give the go ahead and the car will be taken down

adapter my mate made to fit my GRA throttle to my 4 barrel inlet...

22-07-08, 02:07 AM
in the pic with the iternational wheels there an old ford in the background, the blue thing, what are those wheels?

22-07-08, 09:28 AM
How did it go with the turbo setup? I mucked around with a garrett turbo kit on my old white VH vacationer, i welded on 6 injector bosses, made a fuel rail and used an XF throttle body pre turbo. Made a hybrid EA falcon 202 distributor and used an EMS QI4, all bolted to a fresh 202 HQ race series cam, cleaned up head. Went ok but i had trouble with the middle cylinders running rich and fowling plugs, my solution was to fit a turbo 1uzfe instead haha

with the ford in the background, im pretty sure they're just deep 12 slotters painted white, it was my neighbours whifes car. he had a fkn mint XY (i think? im bad with fords lol) ute in the shed he'd fully restored with a small block ford v8 of some sort and massive rubber in the rear. was sexy!

and with the draw through setup, it had a few shortcomings that made it no where near as good as it could have been!
when i bought the car it was running methanol and 10psi and made 180rwkw on 10psi. not too shabby me thinks.
but i'd never driven it like that as i bought the car with a blown dif.

so when i converted it to LPG and swapped difs, it showed up a shew problems.

first off there was a slight exhaust leak at the manifold, and im sure it would have needed to be refaced. the stall was also too small, the car would start to boost on the brak, but would drop rpm and go off boost when i let it off the break.

once it was on boost it was good fun to drive, but with the 2spd glide, it didn't feel as quick as it would with say a manual.
it did some fucking hectic doughies though loll!!

i had planned to turbo the engine again before i do the conversion, but now im not sure if i cbf. i might either put it in a different car or just sell it for a nice bit of cash!

i love your VH man lol i remember finding it ages ago and put a massive grin on my face.
that stratta setup of yours looks pretty cool also, pity you had problems tuning it. as cool as they are, i think the 202 needs a massive stall and some methanol to run good with those kinda of setups.

blow through is the way to go me thinks :)

pity your not in vic mate, im looking for someone that played with 2JZ to do my engine mounts, coming to melb on a holiday anytime soon?:P

22-07-08, 10:39 AM
I have never done a 2JZ - commodore conversion, there is a guy on here however from the sunshine coast that has a 2jz vk, i think he runs an engine conversion business so no doubt he could knock you up some mounts.

22-07-08, 10:42 AM

22-07-08, 10:53 AM
hmm really, i already enquired with him bout mounts, he was pretty blunt in saying no lol.
ah well im sure i'll get it sorted ;)

22-07-08, 10:58 AM
Ah k

07-10-08, 11:41 PM
finally picked up a 2jz-ge, only went with the ge as it came along at a price i couldn't refuse!
FINALLY got all the loom off the 2jz and had a look under the cam covers.
looks to be in good condition.
will attempt to rip the head off after i buy some proper tools lol

this = a fucking cunting cunt to get off!
no chance id attempt it on an engine in the car lol

10-10-08, 11:18 PM
why didn't you just stick a 304 in it if you weren't going turbo???

22-10-08, 04:04 PM
who says im not going turbo :)
a 304 in a VH is a bit boring...

22-10-08, 08:19 PM
a 304 in a VH is a bit boring...

not with turbos :)

That's your solution to everything.

God bless you sir.

23-10-08, 10:28 AM
not with turbos :)

lol meh, not my kettle of fish!

23-10-08, 04:53 PM
Why pull the head of a 2JZ?? No need...

29-10-08, 11:18 AM
because its a 2jz-ge which runs 10:1 compression...
im still going turbo...
a thicker head gasket will bring comp down to around 9.2:1 which will allow me to run 20psi with water injection and should hopfully see 350rwkw or so with mild head work and cams, but only one way to find out!

hmm really, i already enquired with him bout mounts, he was pretty blunt in saying no lol.

They wouldn't have fit your car regardless, mine has VL Xmember.

They are very simple to make anyway. Prop the engine in position, bolt you block plates on to the block, bolt the engine mount plate to the mount, cut some cardboard templates to join them, cut out metal versions, tack up, dummy fit, weld up and add bracing. Sorted.
I would mount the gearbox first too.

10-11-08, 12:03 PM
yeah i've looked into it a bit and seems like it will be pretty simple, but i figured if someone was selling some ready to go, why not! lol

the engine wont be ready for trial fitting before getting a sump and bellhousing. which will have to wait until after christmas :(

26-02-09, 04:56 PM
finally got a front sump, now who wants to sponsor me a mig welder a bellhousing to fit 2jz to powerglide :D

08-03-09, 07:47 PM
put a toyota badge on the front grill...

08-03-09, 07:55 PM
And a Lexcen badge on the back?

03-04-09, 02:24 PM
haha a toyota badge might find its way into the interior, but no badges outside...

got some TT pistons in great condition for a nice ghetto replacement for when i get too scared for the life of the GE pistons.

and thanks to K rudd a mig welder and bellhousing will be delivered in the next few weeks :)

03-04-09, 06:06 PM
Ah... Kevin is really doing us modifier types a big favour. Cool conversion!

02-01-10, 12:37 AM
thanks to a guy on ebay that didnt know what he was selling and didnt list much info, i picked up a GT4202 bush bearing turbo for $96 in mint condition (slightly dirty but blades are fine and bearings are great)

and slight update on the body work, have welded, grinded and sickaflexed the strut tower seams and pretty much done the metal work on one side..
still going to box the rails in the bay but can start bogging stuff soon which is good!

and just a pic of the gt42 next to the 2jz...
wish i had a manifold, would look sexy!

02-01-10, 01:15 PM
Might be a good idea to blank out that mc number.

02-01-10, 01:49 PM
Nice conversion mate :)
