Hello,

I have a few cars... Out of the three cars that I have. This one is the only one running.

It is a 1991 Nissan 180sx.
Ummm here are some pictures of it before I owned it:

http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/1875188.jpg
http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/1875206.jpg

http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/1875253.jpg

Here are some specs of the car from the carsales ad.

1991 Grey Nissan 180sx
5 Speed Manual
SR20DET
Rebuilt with forged internals
T28 BB turbo from S15
Front Mount Intercooler
3 Inch turbo back exhaust
Microtech Computer
Gizmo Electronic Boost Controller
17" Advanti Rims
MoMo steering wheel
Nismo gear knob

I got a guy in Melbourne to go and have a look at it for me, he reckoned it was alright.
So I used Frequent Flyer points to fly me and a friend down from Canberra to Melbourne.
The guy fucked us around and we had to stay the night in Melbourne.
Went and hired a car and went to take it for a test drive.
It was pretty good. The guy advertised the car for 10K.
When we got there he said he wanted 9.5K for it.
We asked him what the minimum amount was that he would take for it.
I then offered him less than that in cash.
He accepted.
We did a REVs check.
All good.
Purchased, shook hands, drove to Canberra.

So yeah, it also had dodgey HID lights in it, I replaced them with the original ones. It had a dodgey blow off valve that appears to have been installed in the wrong spot. I removed that. It was a bit noisy to get past rego, so I got a restrictive as fuck rear muffler.
Finally got past rego.

Afterwards I installed some new polk splits up the front and polk 6 inch speakers up the back.

Still has the same head unit that it came with.

This is the Engine:
http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/Engine071007.jpg
It has stuff on it...
Note the dodgey sway bar and engine damper shock absorber thingy. Also, just out of the picture is the glorious K&N air filter which makes teh powah.

This is the interior:
http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/Interior071007.jpg
It also has stuff in it.
Note my tweaters mounted in the doors, the mid is in the stock speaker location behind the grill.
Nismo gear knob (which I really dont like) and MoMo steering wheel (I like it more than the gear knob. But I still am not a huge fan)
to the bottom left of the steering wheel you will notice a turbo timer (OMGWOW!!)
Also, note the totally cool late 90s Pioneer head unit that came with the car that I have not replaced. I plan to get a near double DIN dvd player type thing in there at some stage.
Also, mounted to the bottom of the marvel of late 90s in car entertainment is a Gizmo Electronic Boost Controller. It has settings of 5.9Psi, 9.9Psi, 10.0Psi and 15.7Psi. (again what it was already set at)

Also, around the EBC you may notice a not quite factory backing plate.........

http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/superdoof071007.jpg
This is what the previous owner/owner's friends made to fill the gap.
The super pimp cassette deck. It has the following settings on it:
superdoof
Lowride
Talk To Da Hand
Sick Burnout
Bitchslap

and just under the gizmo that you cant really see,
Bitchstalker 2000
which has the settings of Stalk/Kick/Next on it.

To Be Continued... Just saving incase I have a black out and lose what literary gold I have already written...

[And Now Continuing]

Outside now:

Front:
http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/Front010507.jpg
Note the nissan badge that the previous owner thought would be a good idea to paint black and then paint the nissan bit with whiteout.
Also note the cool headlight air scoop. It doesn't allow much air to get through, but I think I like it... I also got the original one with the car, so I can change back if I feel the need
I have actually lashed out and bought clear front indicators for it from ebay. It looks better with them... But they are not pictured here.
Also note that I am NOT going to put clear tail lights on it because I am not a gay homosexual.

Quarter:
http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/Quarter010507.jpg
Yeah nothing really to say that hasn't been said before.

Side:
http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/Side010507.jpg
Here you can see the awesomeness of my brakes. Also note that the rear wing has been removed. But removed properly!

And that is about it for now...
Future mods planned are:
Apparently it hasn't been tuned since it got the LebTech, so I might get that done in the next month
eBay turbo manifold (FTW)
betterer turbo - a disco potato perhaps? (just so that I can say "I have a Disco Potato!" mainly)
A betterer intercooler.
Some new shocks.
Double DIN Dvd player
Subwoofer
New front seats (Has standard S13 seats currently :( )
retrimming of the tweed stuff on the door trims and on the glove box.
New Wheels... Thinking maybe these... http://www.roh.com.au/asp/iframe_content/display.aspx?ID=Modena 17 or maybe 18 dunno
Perhaps a Vertex body kit for it Like this (http://www.jetspeed.com.au/catalog/images/10.jpg) and this (http://www.jetspeed.com.au/catalog/images/11.jpg)
Oh yeah I also have some type X tail lights for it... Not clear tail lights, but type x ones. Hope to put these on at some stage around the new year.

DISCUSS.

Lovn it, very clean. Leave the body and the rims, it looks very well done already. Cant beat a nice design.

With nice intercooler and different turbo (although I bet that bb T28 would drive very nicely, cant beat OEM smoothness) and a tune like you said, you will have a completed car :). Very very good buy.

That is incredibly clean for under 10k, with a built motor!!

Have you confirmed it has internals?

Yep, the head gasket was a mess with silicon everywhere, while oil leaks and things were getting look at I got the head gasket replaced...
It appears that there are like 6 different SR20 head gaskets all slightly different, and it also appears that whoever put this on before me had the wrong version and did cool things like cutting sections out and gunking silicon around where they cut bits out.
I am guessing that whoever did that also was in charge of changing the oil filter because they had the wrong one on there, it would do up all the way, but then would loosen and start to drip oil after like a month or two because it was 1mm off in thread or thickness of something....

That would be because the oil filter was probably for an s14/15. I had the same thing happen to my 180sx...I changed company's that were doing my servicing after that.

More Pictures now...

http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/FrontLow101007.jpg

That is another front pic.... In this pic you can see the extreme performance mods that I have made...

Note the new black plastic slim line number plates
Also note the previously mentioned clear indicators...
Also note that I should be a photographer for Hot 4s

It should scream now...

Here is a butt shot now...

http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/ButtShot101007.jpg

Note I also have a really cool plastic number plate on the back.
Also note the standard tail lights.
Please dont note the paint coming off from the bumper.

Just noticed the exhaust looks wierd there... It's just the angle, but I have got that replaced with a less restrictive muffler.

http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/RearHatchInside.jpg
Looking into the hatch from the back....

I got a new gear boot cover made... I dunno if I like it...
While I was at it, I also installed this:
http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/DSCF1426.JPG
eBay short shifter ftw. like $55 after postage. New bush... nice.
Was a bitch to get to two of the bolts for it though... Needed triple jointed thumbs to get to those ones...

Back to the rear hatch again, look at those über cool polk speakers... Hey actually... They kinda look familiar don't they?
Let's take a closer look, shall we?
http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/RearSpeaker101007.jpg

Yeah they do look familiar! But from where?

Lobster
10-10-07, 10:46 PM
Here is where you have seen them before!

http://www.the-lobster.org/180sx/wheel101007.jpg

They were totally chosen because of value for money, and it wasn't until I was purchasing them that my friend pointed out that the grills were the same as my wheels. But Oh well...
I wanna change the wheels eventually anyway...

SOMEONE FUCKEN POST IN MY THREAD!!!

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about it... I think that the front is a bit too plain looking otherwise.
But yeah, I have the option to change it back with the original one

Good buy for the price. Any plans for a brake upgrade?

Was thinking about it, anyone know of someone who can do a brake upgrade in Canberra for minimal cost? I don't wanna do brakes myself. I am too dodgey...

Skyline/200sx 4 pot upgrade is cheap as. $200-300 for calipers, $50-100 for standard rotors or $200 for aftermarket, $60-100 pads. Only issue is caliper clearance with the rims.

yeah, dont I have to convert to 5 stud then?

neil_se
26-10-07, 06:50 PM
Nope, just redrill the rotors to 4x114.3 and make sure your wheels clear the calipers.

Convert to 5 stud lobster, and run r32 gtr rims. It would be so cool. Girls might want to talk to you, and you get bigger brakes.
