View Full Version : My Val

10secRX7 has been hassling me to put my ride up here for your viewing pleasure. She's a '67 VE Valiant Regal Safari. Powered by a 225ci slant six, backed up with a 3 speed auto.

What's a bit different about my Val is that she's had an EFI conversion, largely machined and built in Dale's garage and installed at CHE. She's running a Microtec LT10, Ford exploder throttle body, Toyota starlet GT injectors, Toyota idle control valve, Bosch VL commodore fuel pumps + other assorted bits and pieces scavenged from PnPL.

She may not be the fastest car in the world, nor the quietest, nor thriftiest, but she's mine and I love her (most days anyway, although not a whole lot this month!).

Sweet, when can we buy the efi setup?

Has the Explorer TB made the car any more prone to tipping over? :p

Let's hope not.

EFI setup v2.0 should be finished over the Christmas break. I will be selling the manifold, fuel rail, throttle body+adaptor, and air filter at that time. Want to make an offer?

Go the turbo slant! When I get a chance I'll scan up a little article that was in SM in 1998 featuring a turbo 225ci VC that was battling it out in this on-track modified car story they did.

Interesting. What kind of money are you after? PM if you wish. It's just that I hate making offers with no base amount, as I hate to offend.

whitewalls and venetians! :D

where'd you get the tyres from? I'm just about to start looking for a set, although am leaning towards the painted on style

Paydirt - I'm looking for around $700 ono (including injectors).

saa - tyres are from my local Bridgestone shop. They're Sumitomo's, about $100/corner.

not wrong , you will want to make sure your slantys engine mounts are up to scratch or that manifold will be smacking the left hand inner guard !

Would be really cool to have a standard Pacer air filter housing sitting over that!!

Very nice Val.

I have a similar manifold for the 265 and it performs very well. The runners on your Hyperpak style one have a straighter path compared to that though, so with EFI should be sensational.

Cheers lads! Just waiting for the postman to bring me some goodies from Summit so I can bolt it all up. Hopefully it gets here this week.

Eyman that's awesome, can't wait to hear how it goes :)

I ended up canning my EFI project due to price of fuel & new mortgage.. but still going to use the ECU to control ignition timing with an OHG x-1 LPG setup

hey dude, yeah I havnt been online as much... been a big year - moved to melbourne, worked like a cunt and have done well there, had another baby, lost my mum in law, did 15K worth of extra work from home and bought a house which we're moving into in 2 weeks!

From here on in I'm smoking doobs for the rest of the year just to relax. :)

havn't been on moparmarket. It's kind of boring LOL.

Good to hear you are doing well mate, and congrats on the little ones. Sounds like you've got more than enough to keep yourself busy without mucking about with rattly old Vals!

I stopped posting on MM about a year ago, haunt H6P these days. (and PF, natch)

cheers dude. Yeah I've been doing bits and pieces on the charger would you believe.

Recently I went out there into the cold melbourne winter to finally address a water leak (got sick of buying $6 per 5L coolant at woolies).. I ended up pulling out the radiator (which means the aircon compressor needs to be pulled in order to take out the fan shroud) so I could clean it all up nicely and do the thermostat and waterpump. Then I got the radiator cleaned out at the shop and put it all back together.

Anyway cleverpants over here didn't tighten something up enough or didn't use enough sealant.. so now I've got coolant all over the floor and I need to do the whole job again because you can access anything with fan, shroud, radiator etc etc in place. Motherfuck. I hate cooling systems

Love the rocker cover sticker!

Nice power improvement but I would of thought they had more power???

VE Safari
17-07-08, 12:25 AM
If i changed the cam and exhaust on her then more power can be easily had. Thing is though she is my daily driver, and she just loafs along all nice and smooth and quiet, just the way i like it. Suspension and body flex slow you down enough as it is!

I'm sure it is great to drive, just can't imagine being able to drive off on a cold winters morning without the thing trying to stall. Got to love EFI!

Very very nice dude. I've shown this to a few chrysler nuts and they were drooling.

One question - those injector bosses - did you hold all 6 of them in place with a rig when having them welded. I've got to do the same thing (and Dale is making me 2 sets of the same he made you) for my set-up, and it looks like you got them all beautifully straight

10sec_rx7
26-07-08, 09:04 AM
we welded them all in for him,

we use 2 clamps and a piece of alloy angle to hold them straight while tacking them in place
