Hey all… well I have not posted here for sometime.
Some of you may know my car some not.
Here is an update on the OLD Girl…

Not much has changed, I have had some time to have a little tinker over the last 2months and managed to fix and find a few thing that where holding her back a little, as well as I got a new full 3” Mandrel exhaust made by Chris at Castle Hill Exhaust, as well as some new intercooler plumbing. I also replaced my $10 Pool Fittings for proper Silicon hose.
Installed a set of recoed RX2 Series 3 Front Struts with a set of DBA Slotted Discs and Lowered front springs & a set of Pedders Shocks in the rear.
Hilux diff is all sorted, 4:3 Locker is in, and lastly I managed to massage the rear tubs to get even bigger rubber and rims under there.
It still runs the Mazda Van rims, but now they have been widened to 8” rims with 215 x 65 rubber on the back.

I got up this morning and drove down to the boys at Castle Hill exhaust and said Hi to all the boys.
The reason for going was to ask Dale when he might be able to give the Old Girl a tune.

After him giving me an ear bashing… and abusing my ETHNIC HERITAGE, to my surprise, he said, “I”LL DO IT NOW YOU SHORT FAT HAIRY WOG!!”
After realizing what he said, I slapped him in the head and said Ok Cool lets do it.
She was fueled up... & All I had to do was give here a new set of Plugs and we were off.

Well after some simple tuning and boost she made just a tad over 180RWHP on 22psi… Whhooo I was fucking STOKKED, only prob we had was now was she definitely ran out of injector... Bloody fuel!!!.

So from there we played with it till she was happy and we finally got to what I would say a Very respectable and drivable 160.2RWHP on 16-17psi.
Even with this I’m still wrapped.
I might get another 2 injectors plumbed in and see what the bitch can do at 25psi!!! HAHAHAHAH

So all in all, I’m extremely happy, my little 1.3L SOHC 37yr old engine is now making well over 160RWHP.
Remember this engine only cost me $1000 and this SAME engine has been running in this car for almost 9yrs.
Sorry if you don’t like it, but I’m Loven it!!!!

A BIG THANKS again to Dale, Chris & Dave from Castle Hill Exhaust for all you help…
I’ll be back soon with for more boost once the fuel is sorted... HAHAHAH

Here are some pix.. Enjoy

I have always liked this car!!

I reckon it would be nigh on perfect with a 13B PP and Weber, but definate props must go to you for trying something different to the norm!!

have you tried an adjustable fuel pressure reg ? i had the impression the injectors in the ea throttle bodies were pretty big. maybe a rising rate reg ?

Hi all, Thanks for the comments,

No I have not tried and External Adjustable fuel reg, as the Ea Set up has it's own internal 1:1 rising rate set up/
As for the injectors, I beleive that they are 550cc each.
I'm just thinking of adding 2 small 100-250cc on each side of the Plenum Top hat.

For now it will do, I'll enjoy it for a while then try again..

Thanks again.

white walls, venetians, sun visor. this car has it all!

what tyres are they? I'm thinking of just getting the painted on whitewalls for my merc, but still undecided

I still reckon you need bigger brakes, those old capella brakes aren't that good Michael! Though they're way friggen better than pissy little 1300 ones I'll grant you that.
Destroyed any gearboxes lately? I've got to get another S4 turbo box for my 1300 since the one I got off ausrotary was fucked. I got a nice 808 motor for nothing off a mate and a 5spd box and starter to go with it in case I ever go back to piston power.

Thanks again for the comments guys.

Hey SAA- the tyres I have are actually 15" I have had the white walls put on them as the sizes I wanted do not come Pre-White Walled..

Hey SVI...thanks bud, well the box sicho is ok seems to be holding well..who ever thought you could run 180+hp through the old buggers hahahahaha.

We'll see how she hold.I'm planning on taking her out to WSID very soon to see what she'll either Brake or Run ..hahahah

I love the 15" Van rims. About 18 Years ago, there was a red RX3 sedan in SE melb, with the 15" rims and a BP, it was what made me get in to rotaries..

will we see sub 200bhp from a 1.4 OHC mazda 323 motor...

sv_i

I reckon a D5 head and some more research on the intake side of the motor would yield 200HP. Almost makes me want to put a TC back into mine

Hey boys,

Thanks again,

200RWHP from this little engine would be awsome, Thats what I would like to see it do.

It was only ever suppose to make 100rwhp..so anything else is a bonus..it just seems to love the boost and the revs...who know 200 might still be a little far off and might be it's limit, but we will see.

HAHAH

ill just keep putting boost in it till it makes 200rwhp, might take 30psi to do it tho and it might not drive off the dyno :p

Geezus at those front brakes....Wouldn't want to be putting your life in those stopping you more than once from above 60 clicks!

Nice work dude!!!

we want to see pics of the "rear massage modifications" to the rear gaurds.

I'm pretty sure i know how you did it, but would like confirmation :)

Also, whats the biggest/ widest you can go as is now?

OLD-13H

Hey Thirsty..

Thanks for the nice comments.

Basically the MAzda 1300 have a 25mm inner lip/seam that goes all the way around the inner Wheel tubb.

Once this lip is removed you can gain almost another Inch of tyre and rim on either side.

I'm currently running an 8" rim (Thats Lip -Lip of the rim) with the 205's on.
But when I got the rims made to suit we did it with a 215x65x15" Tyre and it was fine, but I must say it did really fill up the guards...

Maybe with a shorter housing and different offset you might be able to get a 225 size tyre under there with the standard Tubs, but the ass end will have to sit high..

My mate has done exactly the same thing and he runs 215x 15" Sicks, and it does not rub at all.

Hope this helps.

you can also grind back the weld where the chassis rails meets the inner guard and get a bit more sidewall clearance there on the inside of the rear guard

I could've sworn many moons ago there was a white 1300 packing a 13BT with your plates that ran low 11's. Was a little terror that flogged many a v8 torrie at the yokohama sponsored drag weekends in the mid 90's.

Hey Ustasa..

Narr definately not my car. I have been the only one with those plates, I have owned this car for over 11yrs.

Thanks again for the comments guys.
