Ignition Coils - Carby vs EFI

Hey guys,

This is a bit of a dumb question but I thought I should make sure.

Im converting the mav from carby to EFI with a microtech.

The old setup was running with points now it has electronic ignition running the same coil. Its a GT40 one I think.

Can I use the same coil triggered by an ignitor for the EFI setup or do I need to find one from an EFI patrol?

EFI isn't a big deal but to run pointsless ignition and make the most of it then yes you'll need a better coil. a GT80 transformer coil will work just dandy and doesn't cost too much.

Can't run a coil better than a GT40 with points as it arcs across the points gap and also burns the points out (if it runs at all)
