OK got a track day coming up, brakes have always been in need of a bit of a rebleed.
What's the recommended juice for Mx5 mk2? Brakes are all standard but might get new pads at some stage.

I don't know what Dot is in there at the moment.

put the best dot you can afford, no point in saying dot 5 if you cant afford it

dot 5 is silicon based and not backwards compatible, requires full system rebuild.

dot 5.1 is glycol based like dot 3/4 but higher boiling point, compatible with most brake rubbers but more expensive.

i would not have thought you could go wrong by sticking with a good dot 4 myself and saving other potential dramas.

SRF? as in $100 a litre?
That's the stuff i use also and you won't have a problem with fluid boil at least.
If the pads will need changing soon, definitely do them before you go to a track day.

Just read above;
The silicon/synthetic fluids are not to be mixed with dot3/4 and require a full flush when changing to something like that, but I never heard anything about you can't go back to cheaper stuff if you want to, so long as you fully purge the system of any mismatched fluids.

As it was a road car it's almost certainly only got Dot4 in it so I better stick with that. Kinda snowing today so I'm probably not going to get it done..! Pads don't need changing per se, I'm just expecting to want better ones after a track day :)

Yeah, that was good, also tried AP and Brembo race fluids, but I keep coming back to the SRF.

For Dot 4 stuff, I use the following if its available... both have nearly identical specs & I certainly trust them. Cheap as well.

Castrol Response (super dot 4)

I can vouch for the Castrol Super dot 4, used it in a few different cars and no issues.
Also held up pretty well for some track work ie the pads and discs were the problem, not the fluid.
