CHE Race car V3.0

Ok so here is where we are at.

car is at a mates place getting the tin work done, we should be fitting this up tomorrow night. so with in a week i reckon that will all be finished and rolled etc..

then the car is off to Craft Diffs to get the diff housing sorted and a pair of Floaters fitted. along with some new axles and some of Stranges finest centre.

the rest of the fab work will be finished and car re painted by DNK auto refinishing again, the dent man at castle hill with tackle some of the dents in the car to make the panel beaters life a little easier.

the motor is also under going a few changes. a set of dart heads may be fitted to the car in replacment of the stock LS1 heads, either way it will be fitted a 270deg @ 50 solid roller cam and a host of other goodies.. the block goes off tomorrow to get a tiny bit of machine work done then ill start putting it back together.

Having never had any experience with a proper drag car, can u explain how the floating axles work? From what i know, you use floaters so that if you snap an axle there's no chance the wheel will sieze and as such you won't spear into the wall?

I assume that (from the pictures) the axles are splined both ends?

if u snap an axle, even with a floater u will spear the wall, but with the floater set up the axle is only in torsion, there is no bending moment on it. On a standard axle the axle that is in the diff is also holding the wheel, all the work is not being done by the wheel bearing, where it is in a floater setup.

its more if you snap a axle the wheel wont fall off... you can still control a car on 4 wheels, when it is on 3 you cant steer :)

and you need them for sub 7.50's...

its got a Reid super case all SFI approved etc etc

its got some good gear in it... you can even adjust how fast the trans brake releases... if it hits the tyres too hard you can just adjust a screw and it will keep reverse applied a little and slow the hit down...

would have been perfect for the old setup....

the after market case has a oil passage that applies pressure to the reverse clutches etc you can adjust the amount of pressure that is applied to them after the brake is released..

it has extra and bigger clutches on reverse etc...

Yes. The stickers are for the case (integral scatter shield) and bell housing. Absolutely no extra shields req'd.

once it is all bolted together you wont see the inner guards.. fuel tank, catch can and pipes all go over it LO

ive spent all fuck arvo sorting out this fucking floaters. what a cunt of a fucking thing.. the $800 drive plates didnt fit and i had to machine the back out of them which is fun when they have been heat treated. brake disks didnt fit, thats thanks to romac... what a cunt!

The front brakes are different, look more like bike rotors, is this so they fit with the front runners?

the front wheels are spindle mounts, the brake rotor bolts to the back of the wheel and there is 1 nut that holds the wheel on

Im guessing the brakes are small because they dont need to be big and small means light.

Top work on the engine/manifolds/pipes/etc, it looks fucking awesome!

yep front brakes dont do a lot the 4 spots on the rear will do 80% of the work
