I'm thinking of borrowing a book, what's involved in getting a library card? Where do you go, what do you do, how much does it cost?

For most public libraries roll up ask for a membership form and fill it out and that is it.
Membership is normally free but there are charges for borrowing certain items like DVD's and use of the computers , photocopiers etc.

As Tremolo said rock up and ask.
