seen quite a few cars and rods with little 7 or 8" boosters, how well do they work compared to the dinner plate sized boosters most of these brake setups came with in the "donor brake" car?

Id really like to NOT use dual vhxx in my EH for hq disc/drum but also wont fit a massive diameter booster on the firewall, and after a days messing around at the wreckers, none of the reverse style van brake setups will fit under the dash without a fuckload of work id rather do after its registered.

cheers.

My HQ just had a Mazda master cylinder on a plate on the firewall. No booster at all. Still stopped ok. Engineer didn't like it though.:p

Have you looked at aftermarket race style stuff? More $ but might be smaller.

That'll work

so a 7" dual diaphragm from someone other than sss/procomp/atracing/direct engine parts etc will do the job?

cool.

Id love to put a dual master wilwood style reverse mount in there, but that will end up the most expensive part of the car and probably not warranted for ye old hq brakes lol

( i just hate stuff in engine bays that arent engine)

Once its running and registered i might mess around with the pedal box and a bellcrank setup to fit the booster/master under teh dash but im trying to keep it "simple" for now.

cheers

The earlier Kingswoods (HK-G) had a smaller diameter dual diaphragm booster compared to the bigger single on the HQ-> cars. You could look into whether you can use one of them.
