View Full Version : How to fix brake squeal
Hey all...
So, they stop me fine but FFS they squeal all the time! Car is a 2007 BF II XR6T fitted with all OEM gear. Should I just piss the front pads off and get something else to resolve it?
Cheers

Copper grease?
Have been wondering about this too, my Ferodo DS squeal like motherfuckers at low speeds when cold
Mine seem to be better when cold!
Have seen CRC and alike have crap you can put on the back of the pads to help. But some say it does not do the job in the end. Might almost as well just change the pads.

ditch the oem gear if it doesn't yet it will soon enough start to shudder,
I have had oem, bendix and ferodo pads ferodos have been the only ones that haven't shuddered
Cheers Chris. Now to do some research to what ones I need. Time to google it up!

When you fit new pads, you can get anti squeel paste/goo/spray to put on the back of the pads.
Ive always used it and have never had brakes that squeel.
Let me know if you need a name and I'll have a look for product name.

QFM and DBA/RDA discs. Good performance, low dust, no noise. Heaps better (and cheaper!) then the bendix/DBA4000 combo it replaced.
they might be glazed. I found that if i wasnt driving hard with the DS2500's they would squeal. just flog the shit out of them for a while and see if they come good.

oem stuff should not make noise, are you sure the pads are original?
anti squeal on the backings if needed, make sure any anti rattle and back plates are installed and not missing.
pull the pads and rough them up on the road/concrete, could be glazed as mentioned, especially if it's an auto and it's been putted around on the brakes all the time.
scratch the discs up with emery paper as well, machine if warped.
