Was just checking out my brakes and Ive noticed this on my front right brake disc. Im not sure if its a rock thats got in there and gouged the disc or the disc is cracking. It goes around about 1/3 of the disc.

New pads were fitted about 3000kms ago and the brake shop said the discs are ok, but next pad change, the discs would require replacement as they were near on the minimum thickness.

What are your thoughts?

cant tell from the pics.

is it definately indented? its not something glazed onto the surface of the disc?

it looks like ur discs r fucked anyway coz of the hot spots and the "crack" is right in the middle of one of the hotspots.

Cracks generally radiate outwards so it is probably a gouge.

Looks like a gouge full of friction material

Thanks, was thought it was odd for a crack like that, although they look to be in a sad state. Im getting the axle seals redone so I guess its best to replace the discs at the same time.
