the only problem is if you go too modern.
i fucking hate old cars with wheels that are heaps modern... there's an old val near here that looks awesome.. except for a set of 18" chrome wheels that completely fuck the thing
There's no such thing as "too modern". There's wheels that are in poor taste (ie chrome bin lids etc) and there's wheels that are in good taste. Of the latter category there will be some that suit a HQ and some that won't - but that probably won't have anything to do with how modern they are.
I agree that a set of Centrelines or some splatts or whatever look the coolest - but only because they're period. A set of late Simmons is anything but period and looks cool. There would have to be any number of skinny spoked 5 spoke Jap wheels that would look pretty good in a non-traditional size like 18". It would be wrong, but so wrong as to be right again.

I am very confused after reading that :)

So you agree, just wanted to waffle for a bit? Carry on.

which look very similar to coys
American racing make some decent stuff too. Speedy Malibu's are similar are probably cheaper as you biggest problem will be the prices. Showwheels streeters are good value but getting common as a result

GTSboy is Jmac's newest prodigy.
What about those wheels Catspew is selling?

haha that made me laugh....

I take offence to that on more than one level. Firstly, I've been waffling on here for longer than jmac. Secondly, whilst my post may have been excessively waffly for PF in general and this thread in particular, it was nowhere near as waffly as your typical jmac post!

True, I find your posts to be especially informative and generally packed full of relevant and helpful data and quite often I learn something new.
But fuck me they make little or no sense when I am blind drunk!!
Note to self: skip technical threads when sauced.

Showwheels Streeters.
Only 8 inches wide though :gay: They look similar to the Coys, and the American racing torque thrust II's and the speedy malibu's. I have been looking for a set of rims for my car. Dragway make some nice looking stuff but they won't go close to clearing the calipers on the vette. Would be fine for a HQ though.

so had a look at show wheels,
18x8's 235 40's on the front and 245 40's on the arse, no rubbing pretty wrapped.
