Yeah, probably should add the results to two decimal places for clarity.

13.51 beats 13.59

Interesting to see everyone kind of grouped together though, less than 0.2sec across the first three cars.

so NOS'd cars generally come closer to their moroso times than turbo cars?

or the turbo cars at this stage just need a bit more tweaking to get the best out of them (id say all the cars running so far have a bit left in them)

Bitter, nah, you guys did good and made some good runs. But if you want to see a crappy shift, go back and watch the bluebird runs, it's got a shift that's sloppy as baby shit.

But I'm happy with the performance of the Falcon. It did what it was supposed to do, I just want to get it out to the track again and see if it'll go a 12sec pass for under $1300. Then I'll try and sell it. If it doesn't sell then I might consider the converter and less weight; maybe even a budget turbo conversion.

Jim
19-09-11, 10:42 PM
ahh he did 10.9@130something. theres no way we can catch that!!

OKE020
20-09-11, 08:18 AM
Mine was 12.9 @ 118 on the budget although I chose to wire in The autronic not the aristo ecu. Tune would of most probably been a bit closer if I did but speed cuts and suit would of not let it go 118. Now at pb of 10.49 @ 131 for roughly 3.3x the budget.

Jim
20-09-11, 09:00 AM
That's still an amazing result from what is at the end of the day a very tight budget.

I'm still surprised we only had 5 entries in this comp that actually had a run out of the 10 or 15 or so that allegedly started.

There were six runners, you're still forgetting morerevsm3, he ran 13.56 at 102mph. But you're right with around 28 cars started and only 6 making it to the track, it's a pretty poor result.

Jim
20-09-11, 10:35 AM
Ahh yeah, I did forget.
You're right. It goes to show the level of talk vs the level of actually doing somthing around the place.

OKE020
20-09-11, 10:49 AM
Yeah at $1300 you'd think it would be in a lot of peoples budgets easily. Plenty of people have the skill, maybe not the time? i'd of thought we'd get 10 atleast. I reckon doing it a 2nd time would yield better results as there is a few proven platforms that could be copied, tweaked etc.

I think "no time" is a poor excuse. I built the Falcon during an amazingly busy period of the year for me. Shit, to race the car I had to drive home 500km, then tow the car 350km (and we all know how that went) and then tow the fucker homne again then drive back up to Sydney to make it to the office Monday morning. It all about making the effort I reckon. People complain that they've got no time but think nothing of spending a couple hours surfing facebook or an internet forum.

I think the best part of the 13s for $1300 concept was getting people away from their computers and into their sheds for some hardcore tinkering.

morerevsm3
20-09-11, 05:35 PM
getting 6 cars to actually have a crack is a far better effort than any other internet forum I can think of is likely to ever manage, and everyone stayed in the spirit of it as well and had some fun along the way. a few weekends in the shed, and another ~$1k and the E30 will run easy mid 12s in full street trim, but if not for 13s for $1300, it probably never would have happened

seems to be a few people stumbling across the 13s for $1300 part of the forum, liking the idea & starting a build thread.

would be good to have a consolidated leader board so that people know what to aim for

when i get some time i'll trawl through past threads and update
