Wont be mine for much longer as i will be moving soon, but thought this section needs a little love so i started a thread. She is pretty much stock, but anyone that has owned a zook knows how good these are offroad. Best budget, beginner or extreme 4x4 by far imo

One of these days I will finally get a zook. So far every time I've gone to buy one the bloody banks have said no, except for the recent Grand Vitara which was waaaaaaaaaay to small.

I read that and thought "Fuck are you going to be disappointed when you pick up your sierra..." lol

hahaha its all to do with your expectations. If you expect it to be good on road.....you will be dissapointed!

Offroad though they are great! Will buy another one one day just for this reason.

The first car I really drove off road was a Sierra at Double Island Point near Fraser. So much fun, was no one around so Dad used to just let me drive around the tracks behind the beach. Was soooooo easy on the sand.

How do the Jimnys compare offraod with a Sierra?

a jimmny is basically a coil sprung sierra with a better motor and more creature comforts...the coil spring versions are shithouse for flex and have some weird components like a chain driven transfer

Yeah pretty much. They are actually pretty decent offroad and a bit better han a sierra on road.

a locked jimmy would be a great underdog as no one expects them do do any good offroad but they are not that much worse than a sierra

edit: decided to add that the after market for the jimmy is not as good, so when going all out more options for the sierra

I was in Alice Springs yesterday and there were a bunch of Sierras there, they looked like they were doing some sort of group safari thing. Safety in numbers I suppose..

Generally coils are better for flex, maybe leafs being better is specific to Jimny's/Sierra's.

Iirc the issue with the coil sierras and Jimnys is the trailing arms not being able to move enough before binding. I suppose it's only a matter of time before someone builds a hard core Jimny, since most of the time the only thing left of a Sierra is the chassis and half the body!
