hey guys

looking at a car for some towing duties and maybe offroad.

3.0 surfs seems to be overpriced, this seems to be an import so not sure yet.

will this grenade on me?

Isn't it the same diesel motor that people tend to avoid in the surfs due to cracked heads etc?

What about 1996 onwards pathfinders, havent heard of much going wrong with them

lol, its just a LWB bundy with a newer engine and updated front (slightly)

being such a rare import, body/ interior stuff would be a nightmare to get bits for, sounds like its got the same shit engine that (under)powered surfs, and knowing toyota in the 80's/90's its tow capacity will probably be around 1500kg.

id avoid it personally.

nothing much goes wrong with them at all, but you cant get them in diesels or manuals iirc, the tow capacity is reasonably low (still better than most toyos) they are fucking heavy on the juice, and changing the l/hr spark plug will make you wanna poke your eyes out.

GQ lwb.

I thought early Prados tended to do too many stunts?

Early petrol pathfinder is known to use more fuel than Jesus driving a veyron.

That old Prado uses the same vintage 2.4L that the Surfs did. Id probably avoid it, that Prado looks heaps bigger and heavier than a Surf so will probably be super slow. GQ looks like a better option.

Myshortyboomba, are you talikg about 2.4 carby or 3 litre efi model?

MRMOPARMAN

Both. But the 2.4 is worse for its capacity size than the 3.0s. The V6s at least have a bit of go about them

Oh fair enough, I read somewhere online that the v6 was about 13l/100km, (which i didnt think was too bad for the vintage and weight) ,maybe wishful thinking on there behalf

3L EFI. It drinks more fuel than a thing that drinks a LOT of fuel.

4x4 + revvy small capacity V6 = gas guzzler. they are all just as bad as each other

It's not even revvy just fucking shit ratios, seriously who spins a 3L V6 at 3500rpm at 110-120kmph. It would pull that speed from 2500-3000rpm so much nicer and be better on fuel.
