Here is my nugget:

I managed to buy a completed car that was already done for $800 from another member on PF. But to justify it, I can break down the sum of its parts into the following:

Unregistered 1991 Mitsubishi CB Lancer GSR - $150 on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=261003089245&nma=true&rt=nc&si=ZRi5vhem%252Bsz62LrhMo413Eq62%252BQ%253D&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc)
4G63 engine - $300
EVO exhaust manifold - $50
TD05-14B turbo and dump $100
Microtech MT8 ecu - $250
Used Walbro in-tank - $30
Exhaust front pipe parts - $30
Well used China intercooler - $50
Cooler and intake piping - old mild steel bits - $10
Silicone hose and clamps - $0
Filter - $10
Cold air induction - $0
used China thermo fan and wiring - $20

many hours of labour - free

Total - $1,000 :D

Took it to Sydney Dragway tonight and had three runs:
First pass - 13.92@107.93mph (2.5 60')
Second pass, clutch slip - aborted
Third pass - 14.3@108.42 (2.7 60') - no burnout and tried to take it easy off the line as I was worried about the clutch.

Hey, if you paid $800, it's $800.

So, did you do anything to it at all? Got any current pics?

sweet as bro. Pics? Sounds too easy...

I have fitted some old A048 tyres, dropped the tiny rear exhaust just before the cat and gave it a wash :D

A couple of pics from original ad:

Well done mate!

I'm DJ!

That's the spirit! I reckon $800 is the go too! Is there weight to come out of it yet?

31-05-12, 08:13 AM
that's mad..
I reckon that's a keeper too.

after the comp is done, I'd get the cyborg (is that what the 4wd version was called???) rear diff and tail shaft etc, vr4 gearbox and build it up from there.

this thing has heaps of potential.

Thanks, Jim...and it is always CA$$$$H :D

OO, Yes, weight will come out...plus a compressor wheel upgrade ($70), bigger injectors ($10 :D), and maybe some new plugs. + retune.

TT, Don't want to go overboard as I have a few other toys that have much higher priority. This is just meant to be easy & cheap fun.

Had to hide out the back of Sydney Dragway and unload it off the trailer 'quietly' :D

awesome work. trap speed is good! my nugget went 13.4 @ 110mph so you might be able to get a 13.6 if you keep at it and stick the 60 foot time?

Nice job mate. You win the build efficiency competition. Get it into the 12s on your remaining $500?

31-05-12, 10:12 AM
"go overboard"?

you've got 500 bucks to spend.

if that's going overboard, you shouldn't've entered the competition....

500 bucks buys you a better turbo, some plexy/lexan windows and nos.

add to that the free weight reduction by gutting everything..... you might hit mid 12s!

Lol i tried to buy this also. Well done 13s out of the box :)

+1 for stripping of weight and n20s

tut, I'm not gojng to cut the thing up and do a 4wd transplant...but I will do some weight reduction and power improvements. ;)

I think it has a low flat 13 in it with some decent grip and launch (and a better driver :p)

oi, this had any $$$s spent on it and/or another strip appearance?

I broke the clutch and got sick of pushing it around so sold it. The new owner is an absolute pussy and won't take it anywhere near a drag strip. He got it registered and drives it as a daily...

It's a pity as I had some decent upgrades that would have got it the 12's...

Might wait until the new owner breaks it and buy it back :D

damn, here i was thinking you were secretly upgrading and improving times ready to trump anyone who dare beat your 13.9sec pass.
