Tesladownunders Car Theft Protection - Wow

Worried about someone pinching your car? Try this.
A Tesla coil on top of a real performance machine (a Hyundai Getz).
I hired it overnight as I don't own a car.
Details here. This is a 31 second exposure but is not a double exposure and is not photoshopped in any way.
My son is quite safe in there even if he is a little unsure.

Getting out is by opening the door. This is not something I sell. One off. It is a 30 second exposure of a rotating arm from the Tesla coil on top of the car.
    details here.

There is something strange going on here.

Remember puff_datto's thread about his "Dads" experiment. http://www.performanceforums.com/for...ighlight=tesla
You look at the pictures and they are all from this bloke.

Ones in WA, puff datto is in cairns from his location. I think he might have been taking credit for someone elses work some how.

Quite right. Not related to me. He's just got penis envy.
Occasionally I get fakers claiming my pics as their own. I dont really mind. They wouldn't do it if they didn't think they were cool. I don't mind exposing them though.

Photo shows the sparks off a low power testing shot off the vertical rod. This sweeps around and seems to form a continuous ring on time exposure.

    Awesome stuff....!!!
The liquid hydrogen turbopump is slightly larger than an automobile engine (weighing approximately 700 lb) and produces nearly 70,000 hp (52.2 MW).

I reckon that the ACMA will prosecute the people posting this stuff.

Tesla coils generate strong wideband electromagnetic interference, and are illegal for this reason.

Of course, our science teacher told us this after he gave us the speccy lightshow.

I am concerned about personal attacks and would like one of these attached to a baseball cap. Can you please advise cost? Also, will they repel lightsabers and/or laser blasters?

    OLD GUY
I can make that joke but not you, punk.

Seriously though, it was water to increase conductivity between the grounded metal plate and the bitumen.

Rain won't matter in this situation for me. I want good conduction between my earthed chain mail glove and the ground.

Note that this photo is an accumulation of 30 seconds of sparks. If you wanted that many sparks in 1 second you would need 30 times the power, perhaps 100kW which is the power of a medium family car and would need a much bigger Tesla coil setup.

    Alex.
Do they now. Funny how they could run a 100KW TC in the middle of the crowd at the 2005 Big Day Out with no complaints. It had no shielding and no Faraday cage. They in fact are poor radiators and not at all like an antenna. Yes there is some interference but a few hundred meters away it will be hard to detect. I use a Faraday cage for all my public performances bt that would be the exception rather than the rule. Spark gap transmittesrs as used decades ago are illegal but Tesla coils are "below the horizon". Used infrequently and sensibly there should be no problems. Use it in a room full of computers and you might have a problem, Houston.

Here is one shot of the setup with the rotating rod stationary. The rod joins to the Tesla coil and as it rotates it is recorded on a time lapse photo over about 3 rotations.
