looked at the wiring today and realised its a fucking mess, due to me relocating everything other than the rear lights and the power windows, so I have ordered one of these harnesses (and cause Karnage badgered me into it )

unusual that something on this car got out of hand.

WA vs QLD, who is going to finish their POS V8 shitter first?

    Xw or Dave?

Who will taste the victory and who will taste the arse, who will accidentially brush past and touch the nipple of the losers wife at a bbq?

Cleveland Exhausts just finished a VH with a carby 388 GT42 combo over a couple of weeks.

I am going to data log fuel pressure, given what is most important to me is seeing where the pump starts to fall over. For that purpose I just need to find a 0-100psi (or less) fluid pressure sender that is suitable for alcohol. I can't remember the exact calculations for setting base pressure, but off the top of my head I need to run about 14psi base + 1 psi per pound of boost, so I will eventually run out the top of a 30psi sender.

Looks like a nice bit of kit. They did well to fit a GT42 and keep the power steering.

    No gauge or idiot light?

unless you can watch the log in real time its only going to be useful at telling you when it blew up.

at least put some sort of warning device on there!

got a warning light on the data logger, it will only tell me if it drops below base pressure though, not if the pump is shit at full boost, Ill only know that by looking at the logger output (after its blown up)

Would be pretty hard to tell anything reliably from a gauge anyway

Can you adjust the warning light setpoint?

No dyno results, needs a boost retard module for the msd. It's an unknown engine really, offset grind 330 with a not so boost friendly cam. Have the lightest spring in the gate. The owner is only going to use it as a cruiser so won't lean on it to hard. Sounds awesome though

not in the way I would need to as it is 'semi' complex. I can set the logger to throw an alarm at a certain PSI, but the problem is I need to work out when fuel pressure is less than base pressure + boost pressure, but the logger can't handle that. This is where Al chimes in and mentions that I could do this using a haltech

So, if going to have to rely on a lambda based alarm, hopefully the lag between fuel pressure going sus, and it reading lean, and me backing off doesn't send it to hell

you fail at reading, I will be logging fuel pressure, logger is connected to a warning light, pressure gauge isn't going to give me any useful info

not sure how I am supposed to tell by looking at a guage if the fuel pressure is rising at 1:1 with boost whilst on the gas

I'm sure it will idle and splutter and ping at full throttle. What more could you want from a carb/dizzy engine?

lol, there are a lot of the cars in the states running 7, 8 and 9sec slips with similar engine setups, pretty sure they work

And now when it does work it will be even sweeter, and given its on e85 it will smell sweet too.

Ok awesome so you will know after your fuel pressure has dropped off and the light comes on that you now have low pressure. Good plan I mean why would you need to know before hand if your fuel pressure is starting to drop off. So long as you have a log of it when you build your next motor you will have this data and know to knock it up a bit.
This is the hard part though, working out if you have 1:1 pressure rise with gauges. If you look at a boost gauge and if rises 1 psi then you look at your fuel pressure gauge and it rises 1 psi it's a quite good tell tail you have 1:1 pressure rise.
I know it seems odd that you can get this info from a thing that looks a bit like a clock but trust me I know a bloke who read it once on the Internet that it's true.

That's pretty right and it's important with things like that. By all means do testing on a dyno to see how close you are with the pump before you hit the road.
FWIW with the oil pressure on my racer, I have an oil pressure gauge that I don't look at very much when racing, I rely on a ~20psi pressure switch and 50 watt warning light pointed at me so I can't miss it. If the light comes on any time the engine is above idle then I immediately know there's a problem and hit the clutch & ignition to stop it.

I've had many gauges in cars. I always found the conrods react faster than a gauge.

you can always hear them when they break and they stop the engine immediately so you can't do any more damage.

in summary, grind a weak point into each rod, so they fail quickly if something is not right.

carbs are excellent. ECU is better.
