Sold the rear wing today, Pi it had become evident the cars now at an aero imbalance needing more downforce at the rear - good to see all the work we've put into the front is starting to work like it should!

Downside, just started looking into larger wings. They are far from affordable, feck.

We've been working on it improve the car, not pulled down yet as it had a big going over prior to island magic. The engine still needs to come out to give it a once over and replace the clutch. Should have the carbon roof back next week, looking forward to getting this lump of steel off of its shoulders! the only hyundai left will be the tail lights.

Have started building the new fuel tank too, 15L more capacity should do the trick, with the new tune and more boost came a lot more fuel usage. Minor problem

Geez some hours have gone into this thing but not much to show from it. we've realigned the entire body. After a few touches over the last few years the body work from the A pillar backwards didnt fit too well.

Since the new roof had to be mounted on it was time to straighten everything up properly.

The new wing should arrive some time this week however i can't see myself finding the time to mount it before Phillip Island in May, going to a swan mount configuration. So a complete new wing mount set up. Thankfully i've got another option for phillip island, a rear wing off of an argo lemans group c race car i scored some time ago, it had a little bit of damage but we've fixed it up and it'll mount straight to our existing wing mounts. Good enough to get me out of the shite.

Just gets better as you refine the package.

Nice work on the carbon roof. How much weight was saved from the highest point of the car?

The old roof weighed 47kg, however that had the a/b and half the c pillar still attached.
The new roof is 3.6kg on its own and 2.8kg of mounting brackets/ hinges ect.

    Close enough to 40kg

Time to get my arse into gear and get this thing running sooner rather than later, plan is to go to vic time attack and give it a shake down in 2 weeks.

Massive list of jobs to do, but an enthused to get back into it and have a steer again!

Argo wings all mounted up now.

So, took this little nugget down to PI yesterday. Despite cooking a headgasket (was a bit suspect before we went) we well
    and truly pb'd!

Carbon roof and all the other stuff we've done to the car worked a treat. Plucked the engine out today and will give her a
freshen up before phillip Island that's in a few weeks time.

Thanks chief, we only got one shot at a flying lap. My driving was a but rusty too after not steering anything since November last year.

Stripped the engine down, repaired it and the old man will be screwing it back together tomorrow so we can plug it back into the car on Saturday.

The last phillip island round wasnt full of joy unfortunately, we had an engine problem which worsened over the course of the weekend. Final race it was well and truly down on power. Will get to the bottom of it asap as we've entered the national round at winton in a months time.

Find all our lest neddies and get cracking with the big boys!

Am in the process of redoing all the oil lines with light weight brown miller hose. Was surprised to see it's half the weight of your standard speedflow hose.

Just about finished this thing off for next weekends winton. May of found our gremlin! we've had power steering problems lately, hidden behind the pump is the mounting bracket which is 8mm t6, somehow the bracket has broken which surely could only be the pump locking up and jack hammering the plate, however off the bottom of this plate is where the crank trigger is mounted. it would of been moving back and forth like a bitch! enough for the sensor to be contacting the crank at times. Replaced the power steering pump and re-manufactured a beefier bracket just to play it safe.

All we have left to do now is do a little repair job on the front undertray and give it a final once over.

So we made it to Winton, was one of those weekends with some positives.

Friday practice we run with some half decent tyres, first session we just got a feel for the car, was feeling really good. Second session it dipped into the high 1:24 lap time range, with that sort of pace we were really happy with it and decided to park it for the day get her ready for the weekends racing.

Qualifying was a game of dodge the slower cars, couldnt get a clear lap in and then disaster struck, had a rock go through the blower belt which then knocked off all the belts on the engine. Was still able to fall back on our banker lap time of a 1:27.xx which was good enough to put us in 7th place on the grid and qualify first of the state level cars.

Race 1 i feel we went a little bit in the wrong direction with the set up. However muzzled our way up to 5th was able to have the car racing comfortably in the 1:25 range. Still lacking power compared to the 6L cars but its deffs heading in the right direction.

Race 2 was a 7 lapper, all weekend we had struggled with tyre temp in the opening laps. Race 2 was no different, however on about lap 5 the car was really starting to come on nicely where we were racing in the really low 25 range, then it all turned to crap, engine had a death rattle. It would of been the result of losing the dry sump belt earlier in the weekend, a risk we decided to take which didnt pay off!

Positives for the weekend, we've found some genuine pace with the car, still only managing 214 down the main straight we were sending down some decent times. With a little bit of tweaking and improving my driving a little 1:23's on a clear lap are more than achievable.

Just uploading a vid of race 1, will post it on here once its loaded.
