    guys,

I'm chasing a slab of plate alloy to make a trans adapter.

20-22mm plate around 300x300mm in size..

has anyone got something? or know the best place to source something like that?

    thanks

Hmmm. Search terms include; Brisbane, aluminium, supplies.

Comes up with Brisbane Aluminium Supplies, Eagle Farm. Worth a try?

If you are buying 20mm or 25mm thick plate, then a piece big enough to make a gearbox adaptor out of is not a "small quantity".

thanks for the education on it mate. everything I read tells me you can buy it in sheets on 2400x1200. not many places sell a small 'off cut' from what I read.

Tim, dont know if they do alloy, but Bohler Udderholm, in Summner area have a counter sales section , I buy my flywheel steel blanks from there,
Otherwise GJ James, prolly the same alloy thingy as above, in Eagle farm.

Everytime i swing onto Gateway heading north from Kingsford Smith Drive, i look longingly and lustfully at the bloody huge piles of blank ally stock in the Gj James yards!!!

Action Aluminium Slacks creek area. Give them a call and they will cut the plate to your specified size. Good prices. Most of the other Ally joints won't cut and want to sell you giant slabs.

Case closed! Capral at slacks creek hooked me up... 300x300 20 mm plate for 85 bucks... I was happy with that... For the record the fellas at slacks creek are way more helpful than Virginia and have off cuts cheap too

Would those guys sell brushed alloy (suitable for fabricating an instrument panel) as well? I haven't had any luck finding this stuff in suitable quantities.

I bought a sheet at the toowoomba swap meet, and a neat little band saw to make the shapes.... you'd be welcome to what I don't use... I will probably have a couple of sq feet left over, and u should borrow the band saw too, its awesome for the thinner alloy sheet...
