    I love Lancia's, but for $40K, I'd be buying an E30 M3.

The mk4 is worth more than a mk5 as there are only 200 mkiv in the country (v is mass produced), they have better interior, better brakes, better suspension, seem to want to rev harder and are a better drive.

A mkiv is a limited edition hand built car, a mkv is a mass produced ordinary performance car

    They're both slow.

$4500 for a 280zx seems a good buy. Sure it's not a 240z but how much are they worth these days??

Maybe so, but there is still no way they are worth more. Redbook puts their average sale price at mid 20's, while the earliest MK V is $10k more.
