Yep, and as always COMMS was singled out as a problem. Not dismissing anything, just that I've noticed when ever the shit hits the fan the comms systems are usually copping alot of the blame. Doesn't matter where or what the situation is, if something has gone wrong the radio system is involved.

I would say it would operate perfectly when used in an optimum fashion, just not in this situation. A judgement call by those in the situation to terminate, knowing the delay in their communication, may have ended the situation differently, whether it be for the worse or better. Ole Mully could have backed off til he was under 0.145 blood alcohol and gained an education, then avoided any obstacles, or he could have slammed into a large family finding their way east from Skyfire. The Queanbeyan LAC appears to have done their bit after with cross border radio contact guidelines and a little more on the pursuit training side, but I'd say the pursuit of a payout for one officer, and the avoidance of liability on the parts of other parties led to the truth coming in second on much of the outcome. I would expect the processes afterwards to be just as stressful as the carnage itself, especially when you go up against your old teammates. Big respect for cops and fuck doing the job they do.
CSH: I did work experience at the same station and quickly realised, dealing with scum for 85-95% of the days workload instead of actually helping people wasn't my caper. You quickly realise why for many officers, there is zero tolerance and no humour above dry level. The gloss wore off real quick when seeing the same scum wasting resources time after time in a short period due to misplaced pride and the inability to intelligently back down from that pride even when wrong or with full knowledge of the inescapable and harsh consequences, that was before drugs were added in..

I'm just glad the government cut down the poplar trees at the crash site and concreted it over so there could no longer be a memorial attached to the trees for the dead shits.

I like how they made a memorial for Mully - but not for the innocent family that he killed.

It sucks that one of the cops had to take blame, but I understand why it has to be that way.

End of the day it was all Mully's fault.
He could have not stolen a car. Could have not driven drunk. Could have not driven without a licence. Could have not gone faster than he could control. Could have not run from cops. All his fault.

Must be awful to have this hanging over you as the police officer involved, I really feel sorry for the guy that got partially blamed. Out there doing his job to the best of his ability and he cops this result.

There seriously needs to be a shift in blame in these cases.

At every possible junction the cops were to be at blame for this:
    * Had he not been caught behind the wheel they would have been up against it to prove him driving when they finally caught up with him.
    * Had they stuck into the pursuit the outcome would somehow be their fault.
    * Had they got out of the pursuit, and shit went down it would be their fault for having been in pursuit.
    * Had they got out of the pursuit, nothing happened, and he stole a car and killed a grandma three days later it would be their fault.

There needs to be a change in law, perception and presumption that within a wide range of reason, anything that transpires in trying to end a pursuit, regardless of whether it is thought lawful or not, is the fault of the person who is failing to stop.

If it makes you feel better, the police association paid the officers share of the damages

Nowadays couldn't the cops just release a drone to follow the car? :shrugs:

Fit them out with tasers and fuck cops off all together, or keep enough to do the decent work they joined up to do . Just leave them to hover over the houses of deadshits..

Though 7.62x51 Nato AP rounds, or 30 06 BAR or even Barrett 50 Cal are viable options. No italics.
