I pulled mine apart and a mate who runs a bearing shop got me a bunch of seals for it. Apparently you can't get the crap seals they come with, so I had to machine the piston down to make the new seal fit. Now if I could just work out how to the bugger to bleed, I'd be cheering..

I'm sure I had some pics, but I can't find them right now.

I had to turn the piston down with a lathe..

I ended up with a Costco jack, its survived for 2 years now, and at $160 its not going to break the bank if i cant fix it when it fails.

Not really interested in aluminium jacks but just a reminder to use jack stands whilst under the vehicle. Saw a guy the other day at an event, fully under his American Pick-up supported solely by an aluminium jack - I don't think he's long for this world if this is common practice for him.

    Aye, for sure.
I did see these the other day though at Costco: http://www.amazon.com/NOS-NJS0301-3-.../dp/B008AFEXBO

Still undecided about getting under a car with aluminum jack stands.

Yeah, I guess they'd be alright but jack stands aren't that heavy anyway so I'll probably stick my steel ones. Even if they are from Supercheap.

+1, had to help lift a 626 off my old workshop foreman when the jack failed with him under the car.

That looks like the legal replacement for the first batch of awesome long alloy ones costco had. (and didn't certify) I'll have to add one to the collection in case people want to see the whole range together...

Man, I bought one of the aluminium ones on Ebay for a premium a few months ago because I don't have a Costco membership. Damnit.

A few months ago I bought a grey 3 tonne, low profile jack, off eBay, identical to the yellow Costco one, which is 2 tonne rated, for $189 delivered. It's a good thing. Very happy with it.

Its very fucking heavy though. They didnt even bother putting handles on it like the half aluminium one. Im a bit annoyed that it has a lower height than the one I got, but it is only a cm or 2 lower iirc.

The 1800kg ones have been in auburn for a while, they will run out eventually but not very quickly compared to other costco stuff.
