Definitely give it the full curing time. My old hilux is still out there somewhere with kilos of JB weld in important places, including radiator top tank. Really sorry to see you're having to resort to agricultural methods, hope it works out for you!

After all the shit you've been through with this car, the latest setback must be a real kick in the guts. I'm sorry to see it end up like this after all of the time and effort, not to mention cubic dollars. Here's a "glass half full" scenario for you:
If it works you could approach JB Weld for sponsorship, this would be an excellent example of how good their product is!

I once bogged over a crack in a Detroit Diesel V12 block, I think I used Devcon, it lasted years....

    but did eventually fail.

you are a bigger man than me pat, i was done before this point.

what pressure cap do you run on the cooling system? might be worth seeing if you can drop it a few psi (if it isnt low already)

So the situation at the moment is. Drilled about 25 3mm holes in and around the cracks. Applied liberal amount of JB. Allowed more than 24 hours to set. Then the plan is to put a 'serve' of Chemiweld into the system and get the motor up to about 120c. Idea is to hit it from inside and outside. Then take it to dyno and see what we can find. They're just playing with the new ECU at the moment trying to get it to read cam/crank signals so I guess it's holding so far. tbc....
EDIT: So far so good. Dyno now on Monday. Sleep optional until then.

If you cleaned the surface well JB weld will hold fine....Ii held my water pump together after snapping it in two!! That's a stressed part taking clamping force and the turning force.... never leaked. As shit as your luck has been, that fix should hold.

Yes. So far so good. Dyno on Monday will definitely give us the feedback we'll need to determine if we're going to make it or not. No leaks yet.

Been on dyno for a few hours. Chasing some electrical noise. Looks like it's sorted. Best news is so far no leaks or mechanical issues. Positive results on soft tune and only 10lb gate spring pressure.
Not going to go crazy and risk any headlift. Probably stop at 15-16psi for now. Still pretty potent thus far and way more than the 8v motors at similar boost.

After chasing the signal noise and filtering it out we saw some decent numbers for a tractor motor. 505whp @ 10psi 550whp @ 13psi and 620whp @ 16psi. Didn't play with the cams and kept the rpms to 7500 even though this head has been built for 8800 apparently. Slow and steady and keep it all together. That should see us out for now. Should push a bit more drag down the straights. Pretty stoked all things considered. Thanks for all the good wishes too guys. Much appreciated!

Well done mate, you can now seal the deal as the global brand ambassador for JB Weld!
Seriously though, they are good numbers for such low boost.
