    New track for NSW

    Riverina Motor Complex/Race Track

    http://www.dailyadvertiser.com.au/ne...a/2401251.aspx

They seem to be keeping it very low profile in the press release and might be trying to go under the radar releasing it at this time of the year.

This is where the track is going to be located. Wokolena road is pretty much the boundary, has up to 60metres elevation in some parts:

    http://maps.google.com.au/maps?q=wag...Wales&t=h&z=15

I know a fair bit about whats going on with the track.

Mark Skaife has helped in designing the track
    They want 10,000 car parks.
Lindsay Fox is getting behind it.
Council is really keen on it.
Its going to be able to hold everything bar F1 and motogp
    Open 363 days a year
Skidpan, circuit, and drag strip, they are pushing for 1/4 mile
Alot of the paper work is sorted out.
They want to do it properly the first time, and make sure that it is set up for expansion in the future

This will be a great thing for Wagga, and also new south wales.

Move Wagga a few hundred k's north and it would be better, good luck to them anyway.

I'll be a very happy man if it includes a drag strip, don't care if it's 1/8 or 1/4mile, just as long as it's not a shared circuit arangement like ECR was. If they build a dragstrip they will get plenty of racers. For example the drags at Narrandera was always popular and it was on an airfield, the drags at Wilby is very popular and it's the most bush/backwards track you've ever seen - yet they'll get 80 cars or more to a meeting.

What's the bet that Gary Myers will be talking to the organisers already about running a Gazzanats there?

Considering the cars down here in the Riverina/Upper murray/Border region, this will fuckin' rock!

    Even further south.

I reckon this can only be a good thing

Logical debate beats name calling any day. My Badges Of Honour so far in PF: Racist, Bigot, Islamaphobe, Numpty, Moron, Far Right Wing Nationalist, Far Fight Wing Fascist, "raving fucking lunatic", "dumb" & climate "denier". AND they are just SOME of the pathetic tags that I've been labelled by SOME here. HINT: Those labels are signs that the accusers have lost to logical debate.

Maybe it's time for them to check some facts. Here's a good starting point: http://www.mostdamagingwikileaks.com

Theres been talk of the summernats people showing interest, Muscle car masters people are interested, NRMA driving schools are keen, Riverina drag racing association have the money to build a decent strip which was going to be located in narradera or around that area, they caught wind of the plans for a track in wagga and are getting involved. plans are to spend 5 mill on stage 1, and they reckon up to 20 mill can be doable.
They dont want government getting involved, the guys behind it are going to do it their way with alot of very big players lending a hand.
They are going to do it right the first time, including plenty if infrastructure for future development, like power, water, lockable storage sheds, camping grounds etc...

That's the best way, you could die of old age waiting on the Government to do something. The reason there's no real drag racing in Canberra or Melbourne at the moment is that cunts are sitting around waiting for the Government to build them something.

Hope this goes ahead, would definitely head down to try it out!

Are council the determining authority on a development of this size/nature?

This would be fantastic for Wagga, Regional NSW & motoring enthusiasts. Good luck!

Does anyone know where more info about this proposal can be found? Layout, Amenities, length, completion date? etc etc.

Ive heard the tracks going to be 2.8km, they want lock up garages, 10,000 car park spaces, camping grounds. They gave the Development application to council last week, and just have to finalise things. Theyve done most of the running around already, like noise pollution tests, green tree frog and aboriginal burial ground tests and all the bullshit like that, ill see if i can get on the email list, then ill be able to get more info.

sweet, have extended family in wagga, it's on the right side of town so you don't have to waste a lifetime going down the main st to get to it from the north. They should though, IMHO set up a permanant dirt circuit/khanacross course-even if it's only 1.5 -2 km long and quite tight /technical- ala a mini bagshot in vic.

Doesn't really do anything to help out Sydneysiders. 5+ hours away and the same for Melbourne too. Good for country folk I guess. Not quite sure how it'll be commercially viable though.

Probably the same way Wakefield, Morgan Park and Mallala are commercially viable.

Add Winton to that list too.

You city fella's need to expend your horizons. When Canberra was operating a dragstrip I was travelling down to race at every meeting, despite the fact that we had ECR to race at as well, mainly because Canberra ran bracket meetings where ECR only ran pure grudge/street meetings except for the odd national meet every blue moon.

All those places are < 220km from capital cities which means day trips are possible. The closest capital city to Wagga is Canberra which is ~250km.

Hence the provisions for lockable storage10k car spaces and sufficient camping/amenities to support it all. Yeah it's not perfect distance wise for the city folk, but atleast some cunt is trying to make something of what they have access too, lord knows if they tried this shit <200km from syd there would be cunts screaming "think of the babies your going to kill you hoons" and 5 years of gumbyment red tape for it all to just be bought out and turned into another suburban shithole.
