Why would the government need to waste tax payers money in a survey no brainer like the obvious.
Fucking government gives me the shits. Our government almost shits me as much as 101.
I told them I once raced cars (total lie ) pissed them right off I will think of something bigger.

Of course it's obvious, but it's a very smart move to commission an independent report to quantify it.

They can now use this for business planning and government submissions for funding. Potentially other regions could also use it to get facilities up and running in other locations.

    The irony being:
    1) The bulk of customers are probably Sydney based.
    2) Assuming Luddenham has the facilities & track quality to host the same events Wakefield does, why the fuck would you bother going to Goulburn when you can achieve the same result in Sydney.
    3) Assuming Luddenham has zero noise restrictions, no brainer.

Really, the only things going for Wakefield are:
    1) Cheap.
    2) If you binned the car, good chance you wouldn't die doing it.

The issue with Wakefield I feel is this. Had my car booted for too much noise. If you run a good business and council / laws mandate noise restrictions then the conversation should be "Hey I'm sorry, your car broke the 95db noise limit. The cunt neighbours down the road complained to council and fucked it for everyone. I want you to come back, but you have to get your car a bit quieter to meet the requirements". Instead I got "Hey fuckwit your car is too loud don't come back here again unless you shut it up". That response is one from a business who gives no fucks because they know there is no other competition.
Hasta La Vista Wakefield you piece of shit. Be all you can be Luddenham!

If factor in getting up 4am or accommodation the night before, travel costs, availability of racefuel (if needed) it no brainer just to do a track day at EC, $250 vs $370.

But the Wakefield track is pretty fun and has a different feel/vibe to EC.

    .
100%. Problem is availability of practice days at EC, though this year they've seemed to be much better.
Also WP is usually a lot quieter, whereas any practice day at EC is always packed.

^^ Nah I meant the track days not private practice days. Never busy on those days. You get guaranteed 6x20 min sessions. I manage about 6/year. 4 ARDC members only days for $90 and two half price days for around $180 ea.

^^ Yes but I don't think you can run race cars on those days?

Agree for a street/track car plenty of options at EC.

At the "track" days race cars are on in the morning (mainly radicals etc) and road cars in the afternoon. Much lower numbers than private practice days and you always get a garage (something to factor in as well). The $90 members days are road car only though.

Went past Luddenham today and popped in to check out the progress on the track. Surface is still dirt, but all the concrete curbing has been laid on the corners. It way more undulating in real life, looks like it will be alot of fun!

Would be cool if luddenham did drift events on the full circuit similar to how Oran park used to operate. I can't wait to look at the prospect of doing track days there in the future, seems like a fun track.

I don't know any official news, just what pops up on FB and whatnot but yes, I did hear early 2018 opening. I don't see why that wouldn't happen given the progress so far, unless there's a shitload of rain in the next few months. It's nearby so I will visit every now and then and report back.

I'd love to see regular full track drift days there too. Unfortunately the drift crowd is full of a new generation of young cockheads now, not like the old days of Oran Park with us old cockheads who were there to drive and have fun with mates in whatever pile of shit we owned. It's kind of like a scene or a fashion now. And the dickhead spectators cause dramas by ripping skids leaving tracks, happened at Marulan years ago and more recently down at Kembla Grange where drifting was on twice a week for a a few weeks there until the spectators fucked it.
I'm happy to do regular track days at Luddenham if thats all there is. I'm old.

So Dubbo & Gunnedah drag tracks have had their DA's approved (both will be international standard 1/8 mile), but Gunnedah will also have a circuit on the property.

Dubbo has half their funding, Gunnedah have an application in for a large govco grant.

Luddenham will never be a direct competitor to wakefield. It will be more like a sudney marulan. The track is not designed for racing but rather sprints and drive type days

haha thats not the issue. its the logistics (long way from dubbo, and crossing a paddock to get to the strip aint fun), and the prep time. last year someone fucked with the light system or something and we didnt even start racing till after midday

Sounds like what happened at Tamworth earlier in the year.

They are restricted to where burnouts etc can happen, so a "well to do" member of the aeroclub who has been trying to get rid of the drag club for years decided to go out there one night, open the gates & rip a massive skid out the front of the hangars.

Funny thing is he forgot that all the gate codes are unique & there is 24 hour video surveillance of the hangers etc. And he is the only only person in the area with that car in that colour.

I hope the coppers threw the book at him AND he got kicked out of the aeroclub!

    Sorry, didn't mean new.

I've done Oakburn once and would be keen to try this track too at some stage.

    You driven it?
