    Good news!

Motorsport complex given the green light

A PROPOSED amendment to defer the $3.78 million motorsport complex on Wokolena Road added fuel to the heated debate before councillors tonight overturned it and gave the development the green light.

Almost 100 people from the motorsport industry in favour of the privately funded development and local farmers against it attended the council meeting that heard debate on proposed amendments to the 76 conditions before a decision was reached almost three hours later.

Councillors Rod Kendall, Andrew Negline, Yvonne Braid, Alan Brown, Greg Conkey, Garry Hiscock, Julian McLaren and Kerry Pascoe voted in favour of the development, while Paul Funnell, Kevin Poynter and Dallas Tout voted against the recommendation.

Mick Neason and Phil Andrea's (operating under A N Aviation Wagga) proposal to council three years ago to develop a 2.6km race track on a Wokolena Road 85-hectare block off the Sturt Highway was met with concerns from local landholders about the condition of the road, noise, waste and the implications it could have on the water supply and farming.

Tonight's meeting heard the three changes included in the motion in conditions four, five and seven, related to traffic, fire and noise.

Councillor Poynter put forward an alternative recommendation to defer consideration of the development application and seek legal advice to clarify zone objectives when granting approval and on the permissibility of activites in that zone.

Councillor Funnell shared his concerns that zones were open to interpretation.

"We still don't have conclusive evidence one way or the other," Cr Funnell said.

"In all fairness to all parties, in my opinion, it needs to be deferred."

Councillor McLaren opposed the ammendment and told the meeting legal advice would only extend the debate with the potential to create more confusion.

Councillors Brown, Funnell, Hiscock, Poynter and Tout voted to move the ammendment, while councillors Braid, Conkey, McLaren, Negline, Pascoe and Kendall were against.

Councillor Hiscock proposed an ammendment to condition 23 to allow entry and access to Wokolena Road from both the east and west intersections of Wokolena Road and the Sturt Highway to allow the local farming community right of access.

All councillors voted to carry the ammendment with the exception of mayor Rod Kendall.

Councillors then voted to pass Cr Negline's ammendment to conditions 50, 51 and 52 that demanded Wokolena Road be upgraded prior to the construction of the complex.

The meeting heard the proponents were not allowed to exceed the baseline noise level of five decibels across their 50 events.

Maybe it's time for them to check some facts. Here's a good starting point: http://www.mostdamagingwikileaks.com

I'll read when I get bored.

Knowing how most derps read EIS documents they have probably seen the mapping that shows 39 potential sightings within a 10k radius and thought that must apply.

Lol yeah I suspect so, we deal with that all the time, except our tool is worse because it includes predictive habitat mapping so you get massive lists of things we won't care about.
That said, being shoalhaven I'm sure there will be some species of concern like green and golden bell frog. If it hasn't been referred to us I might have to investigate further.

    Just got emailed this....

    ------------------------------------------

    Yerriyong Motorsport Park

We need your support for a new first class raceway in NSW.

For decades the Nowra District Motorcycle Club has operated a motocross track about 10kms southwest of Nowra. Recently, the Commonwealth Government announced $9.5M in support of a current development proposal to significantly upgrade the district into a motorsport park and to include a race track comparable to what NSW lost with the redevelopment of Oran Park. This project has been advancing over the last two years, timely, since the loss of Oran Park Raceway.

No matter how good this purports to be, there is always the loud minority citing the orchids are rare, and the impact on the environment is unacceptable. The fact is this proposal’s immediate neighbour is the Albatross Defence Air Base.

On 21 December 2015 the naysayers commenced a petition for the State to reject the proposal. At the time of writing this has 537 supporters and a strong voice. The objects are primarily centred around noise, traffic and environment.

On 4 January 2016 a supporters petition was commenced and by comparison has 2,105 supporters. But it needs more. The facts are simple. Once again the State planning panel (JRPP) is likely to give in to the voices in the wilderness and NSW will be deprived of one of the most ideal options for a new race track, and supporting infrastructure such as a Motorsport Service Subdivision as a part of the existing Aviation Technology Park with the potential for a direct link to the track for unregistered competition cars.

The Mayor & the Shoalhaven City Council General Manager have publicly supported this proposal.

The applicant is given until the end of January to submit further supporting information. Your simple vote will assist to get this proposal approved.

You can follow this link to support the proposal: https://www.change.org/search?q=Shoalhaven & click on the title: Supporters of Shoalhaven Motorsports Complex

A statement is not essential however, if you have some expertise or strong opinion you could consider making a statement.

Some further information can be found at: http://www.southcoastregister.com.au...-track/?cs=203 &

    http://www.shoalhaven.nsw.gov.au/My-...cling-facility

We hope you endorse support for this Motorsport Park where we can meet and expand on our motoring interests.

    Thanks

Cant believe cunts are having a bitch over it, its literally next door to an naval base - those cunts can do whatever the fuck they want noise wise at will and they dont have to answer to anyone.

Anything that brings tourism into an area, promotes jobs, and stimulates the local economy should be encouraged.

That there is the possibility of a bit of noise, is a pretty fucking small trade-off compared to the overall benefits.

Unfortunately this once great country is run by minority groups and some crackpot will say something like
the noise or so called pollutants will wilt my daisy even thou I'm 30ks away and it will all come to nothing.
This country is the most over regulated nation in the free world.

That looks like a tidy little layout. Great to see some nice, sweeping corners instead of tight stop / start. Would love to get an idea of where the elevation changes would be.

There's also a number of council staff that have done a subdivision over the other side of the hill and were very concerned about noise impacts...

This was back in 2003 so they may be finished now.

Latest word is Ringwood and Wyong are both goers. One of them allegedly with cars on track before Christmas 2017. Wyong Council is apparently right on side and has insisted on their Chief Town Planner being contracted out to the track developer so every box is ticked correctly. Should be FIA Level 2 track. Same as PI and Bathurst. Believe it when I see it but it was from bloke in the know.

Anyone got news on Luddenham? I saw on faceballs today that their Paintball fields are up and running now.

I've been karting out there a few times when old mate has been driving the slasher around the proposed car circuit. Not exactly FIA level 2 material but another option nonetheless.
