Why should they? It's mod plated. Car would have been insured as modified Shirley.

    Yes it is.

Will be interesting to hear from the assessor.

On the other hand, my worst nightmare was old mate taking out a family at 250kmh+ and then me being embroiled in a shitfight with CTP ... Knowing how liability follows no line of reasonableness, no doubt I would have been pulled through court action whilst a prosecutor tried to have me prove my mods weren't illegal... Thankfully that didn't happen

For reference. Anyone good with facial recognition software care to have a go looking for more info on old mate?

Written off vehicle register is for vehicles 16 years and newer, so you just need to clarify whether your insurance company will cancel the rego or not. I've had vehicles written off before with no effect on the rego but they were hail damaged so it may differ for something structurally damaged.

    Who is it insured with?

the roof pillers look ok and as long as the under car damage is limited to the sub-frames and not the uni-body it would only be an economical write off

You're correct, I didn't know this.. I just checked and the 16yo rule applies to Qld too.

Is it via shannons? They are usually pretty good at working out a solution to suit you.

I got paid out on a car I had insured with shannons, rolled the car trailer, car was flat. Anyway I kept the wreck and the shell was still registerable. They never put it on the register.

Does Shannons still have salvage rights on their policies or do you have to select that option?

It wasn't aware of the 16yo rule, awesome if so. Makes much more sense to keep it.

Doing assessment tomorrow I think and she promised me that she will call me*

Ouch. I was told verbally last night by a Shannon's rep who looked at the pictures I had uploaded that usually if there's more than 25% of the insured value in panel damage then they will not worry about what's underneath, rather make it an economic write off, and that the cost of the wreck, whilst up to the assessor, is usually 'minor'.

    Thanks Leigh.

So it took a while to find some white panels, and then time to work on them, get them delivered etc.

After fitting the front pax side quarter I got to work swapping all of the door inners over to the new door skin. What I did fail to do was order new hinges, so after an hour and a bit of pfaffing around I went to fit the door up but the lower hinge is well fucked and door won't close. FML. Am away until the weekend, and I was looking forward to just bolting panels back on. Oh well. Annoying but not difficult!

Also I bought S1 guards. Facepalm. They S2, which this is, do not have repeaters in the front quarters. Here you can see the bend in the lower hinge. Is well fucled and I thought the door would have new ones but didn't specifically ask for them. Half shaft is back at next level motorsport so will grab that soon, get the back end together, this door on, then drop her back on the ground ready to go to the panel shop.
