cheers for advice re pinstripes. the protection film was gonna be the go, tbh I don't reckon I'd do much more than "baby's first 4wd track" but who knows I'd probably manage to fuck that up.

Keen to get out and do more off roady shit in general though without feeling like the shitbox i'm in is gonna fall apart tho. Brindabellas has some good trails that need a decent bit of off road to get to and fuck doing it in a standard road car, and screw suv idea.

Whatever I get + daletune seems to be the hotness assumingly?

Any love for or experience with the Mazda BT-50 in here?

Obviously shares the same platform as the Ranger, with different styling and slightly less features/more low rent interior. But, quite a bit cheaper.

Looking at purchasing 2 vehicles in 4x2 single cab chassis (or space cab) config with 3.2 TD and 6 speed manual.

We give our work utes a flogging, and the huge payload and towing capacity of the BT-50 is a strong attribute.

I know this is the 'dual cab' thread, but any proper reason to steer clear of the BT-50's? They seem to get rave reviews from auto journalist cunts, but most of them are total fuckwits.

Ranger and BT-50 dont have a great deal in common anymore since the Ranger was updated in line with the Everest. It is no longer built along side the BT-50 anymore either.

BT-50's pop turbos occasionally but not much else goes wrong with them AFAIK.

I have 5 of the newer bt50s, 2 of them are the 3.2L. One has done 80Kkms (24months old), mine is the latest one with dpf and only done 5500km. The others are the entry spec 4x2 2.2L 6spd. No problems with any of them, but none of ours are carrying big loads or towing much, we have trucks for that. Our previous bt50s (older 2.5 and 3L) all did at least 300Kkms, still have one at 345Kkms, nothing out of the ordinary gone wrong but they have all been serviced every 10Kkms.

Someone I know tows a 2.2t van or previously a Cup car and heavy trailer with his, and hasn't had any problems with a 2012 model.

Hmmmm, hardly seems worth the effort?
Or maybe the improvements are more than just the end figure?

What can you do now that the Unichip can't do?

You need a 4x4 test mule? PF rates?

Dpf deletes are a lot easier, I'll be testing it all on mine this week, I flashed it 15 times today to make sure it was working so now will start playing
