Congrats guys! lol at magna VS XR6

Does a 380 engine bolt straight in? What gearbag would you use? How much do they cost?

A magna wagon with tow bar and 380 manual would be a cheap and interesting daily.

Most of the 3.5 gear is used for the conversion. You change the front cover and throttle body. Motor bolts up same mounts youd never pick it had a conversion by lifting the bonnet. All manual magna boxes work.

380 Motors vary in price from $800 to $1500 I paid $2400 supplied converted and tuned.
$800 380 motor + $300 magna convert yourself you have a $1300 13 second car. will probably run a best of 13.5 if I take some weight out of it. Im stoked for daily racing/driver.

Beating stock SS's (Pre ve) is a shit box magna is some of the best fun you'll ever have.

Yea I believe you are correct as there is a clear and distinct shortage of square ones and triangles are shit so no one buys them except cheap cunts.

This is why 380 powered Magnas do well in I.P racing - there's a couple of really quick well sorted ones running in S.A...
LSA R8 Clubsport - for towing...
N15 APRA Pulsar - for going...
IPRA VS Commodore - for the "one day when i'm nigga rich" ultimate bogan track weapon...

Wouldnt you be better off doing a 380 conversion to a FTO for IPRA?

No FTO's ain't cheap and I dunno if they bolt up. Everything is stock looking. I'm running MT's and the 3.5 ecu is just like a Evo 6. Can be tuned.

FTO's aren't eligible for I.P so I'd say that's the reason why not...

Really? Any idea why? I figured if you can run silvias, skylines and all the other jap imports around, why not these?

You can get rough ones cheap as if your in the right place at right time. They dont bolt up, they run a different series of engine. Shit can be made to work though. They probably weigh the same as an early magna anyways.

It would be a total waste of time going an FTO.

They're not that much lighter with all their electrics

Standard Magna Executive manual weighs 1420kg on a weighbridge.

With the right weight removal you can get one down to 1220kg on the same weighbridge

I reckon in the real world an FTO would weigh around 12-1300kg without the bigger motor anyway on the same weighbridge.

For interest sake an EVO10 weighs just on 1800kg on that weighbridge

Fuck knows mate ? Something to do with being a sportscar from memory and not Group A eligible or something ? They can (and have) run in Prod Sports so I'm guessing that's the right class for them...

engine conversions arent allowed in production sports like IPRA are they? waste of a potentially cool race car.

Still more work involved and FTO screams boy racer stock. I prefer the Magna.

What about a.lancer or mirage? I realise that the beauty of the magna is the ease.of the conversion but the mirage would have to be good 400kg lighter.

Would be a big ask to put a 380 motor into a mirage or lancer, i know the FTO 2.0 v6 fit, just, but i'm sure with a big enough hammer, plazma and a welder anything can fit
I wouldn't recommend sex, drugs or insanity for everyone, but they've always worked for me...

LOL this is fucking cool. 200+wkw to be had with just a decent cam, as per the magna/380 IP guys.

Run a heap of rear spring for 1.8 60 footers. Run 12's. Do it please.

Jap imports aren't automatically elligible. Someone has to apply to CAMS for it to be added to the approved vehicle list. If it passes the internal dimension test then it is possible.

Magna wagon with 6G75 and manual conversion has been my daily for last 2 years - great fun and very underrated as most think Magnas are slow :-)
