    Hatchback torana

    Found this for sale. Comes with an LS1 and T56 manual. (I will sell the gearbox and look for a TH350/400) The plan is to turn it into an LH/X and install aircon etc for a nice street car. The body is straight with very minimal rust. Just need to choose a body colour for it

    Nice, fair whack of work to put LH tail lights in them. I had one of these years ago, love them. The interior is worlds ahead of the LH/X.

    I reckon spray it the original green with black outs. Was it Barbados green?

    Yeah dude, this is my third torana. First hatchback though. Yeah green is the original colour. I have got the tail light buckets to weld in the rear, but I would rather weld in the whole rear section.

    Floor pan is mint! Still has the original paint there, no rust. The engine bay has a lot of severe surface rust, but not a big deal to fix. At this stage I am thinking of smoothing the engine bay and shaving the chassis rails. (torana chassis rails overhang and have a lip)

    Hahaha yeah, the old supercheap grinder gets a work out. I got straight in and unstitched the rad support panel. Next is to unstitch the inner guards, as unfortunately they have a different profile where they meet the guards. I could make a patch panel, but I have guards so will do it properly.

    Fitment wise they are not too bad. Pipes are a cunt, and the fan box will probably need shaving down to clear back of head.

    I remember a LH SLR 5000 hatch with flares in kermit green with full blackouts on the cover of Street Machine in about 1993. Fuck it looked good. If you are going this far I say do the flare kit as well. 15x8s and 15x10s.

    Dude has the black torrie ute & a while back converted his brother's UC to LX(has ls1 too).Has some great threads of his build up done in his workshop & he's got pf sense of humour.

    Its a shame you decided to butcher it, it could have been something a little different now its just another V8 LH/LX hackedback but not quite

    Pretty cool, I picked one of these up a few years ago pretty cheap and sold it which I have regretted doing ever since.
    But I agree with Gassed250, shame about the cut and shut on the front end.

    Why the change in gearboxes? A T56 would make it a fun car to drive.

    If its going to just be a cruiser why not use a 4 speed auto for more long distance cruisability?

    Was at a mates place today... who has 7 or 9 Toranas. We were standing in front of a UC as I told him about this thread. Just looking at a UC and a LX side by side.... man that's a lot of metal work!

    Cheers dude, I just found Dirtbag's thread. He did it a way I wouldn't have thought of, but he did an awesome job!! That hatchback is for sale now for 50k.
