Anyone actually tried using a VPN and streaming HD? Is it even possible (with a 100MBps NBN connection)?

I guess any of the services that offer out of country Netflix should be ok?

All they need to do is convince Foxtel to package a single channel F1 version of their app, or a single channel subscription.

Itís sort of how it all reads, in countries where their broadcaster is pay based they want the broadcaster to offer a dedicated F1 product using the broadcasters platform - ie everyone makes a few bucks...

Thatís the reason why Fox would have to be the supplier here. Iím presuming Fox would love to get $10/race from online viewers compared to nothing. Fucked if Iíd ever pay those fuckers to put anything in my house every ago, harder to get rid of than a Mormon on the doorstep.

McLaren now claiming their actual 2018 car won't be revealed until Spain. You can't make this shit up. Why not just say that at the beginning of the season.

They should never have left Honda. Now theyíre running out of excuses.

Everyone with half a brain saw McLaren were producing terrible cars for the last couple of years, even with Mercedes power.

I wonder how much of Alonso's pushing McLaren to part ways with Honda had an influence on the final decision? Maybe Alonso being so publically vocal against Honda also helped the final decision to part ways from Hondas side too? We are privy to fuck all of the info that formed that decision at the end of the day.

Also, how much of the absence of Ron contributed to the break down of the relationship between Honda and McLaren? Cant help but feel for McLaren though. They really were between a rock and a hard place regarding that engine decision.

On a slightly different note, a translation from a German article that I thought was interesting (from reddit)

Here's a short summary of the article:
Christian Horner and Helmut Marko kept saying that Red Bull would be able to keep up with Ferrari and Mercedes during the race, however, proof for these words was still missing. The race in China has now given that. The analysis department of Mercedes found out that Red Bull had the fastest car during the race.
Their stint on the ultrasoft tyres was unbelievable, both on terms of length and lap times. On the medium tyres they were 3 to 4 tenths faster than Mercedes and 2 tenths per lap faster than Ferrari. Red Bull wins their time in the fast corners, with traction, on the brakes and with lower tyre wear. Marko: "We can drive faster than the other teams, and with older tyres our traction advantage gets even bigger."

However, Red Bull always starts the race behind the Ferrari's and Mercedes', due to their lack of qualifying speed. Red Bull says that the gap in qualifying is only down to the lack of speed in the Renault engine, however GPS data reveals that that is not correct. At maximum 0.15 seconds per lap in qualifying is down to Renault, the rest is because of Red Bull itself. The high rake that Red Bull is running causes the car to have more drag than Mercedes and Ferrari, costing them straight line speed. McLaren has the same problem for the exact same reason. Above that, the downside of the Red Bull being good on its tyres in the race is that it's not able to bring the tyres perfectly up to temperature for qualifying. An advantage in the race, but a disadvantage in qualifying. Again, McLaren is similar to Red Bull with this, although to a smaller extent in this case. The Renault factory team is the opposite with this, being perfectly able to bring the tyres up to temperature for qualifying, but then resulting in overheating during the race.

Red Bull is also worried about penalties this season, as it's already on its second of the 2 allowed batteries. It's also already on its second of the 3 allowed engine parts (ICE, turbo, mgu-h & mgu-k). Marko: "We are sure that we will get penalties, we just have to divide them so we get them on the right circuit."

I think that's a failry poor analysis. The true indication of their race pace in China was the opening stint where Vettel and Bottas pulled a gap while Verstappen held up Kimi and Lewis. That's not the mark of a car that's as fast as the Mercedes and Ferrari.
After the pitstops, same thing happened to a lesser extent with everyone on Mediums. Vettel right behind Bottas, Max lost 1.3sec on them gradually over 5 laps while Lewis gained on him.
After that it's all skewed by SC and tyre age/compound, not a comparison of the cars.

Nope, Fox want you to buy a package with shit you don't want. They are still operating 90s paytv pricing models

One Hundred Percent. $10/month extra for HD? It comes standard on Free to Air. They are cunts.
Would gladly illegally stream just to say fuck em. Will have to try and sort out ace streams.

I'd encourage everyone to call and threaten to quite if they want a price reduction of $29/month for the basic package + sports.

This - they were never going to win the race until the sc came.

Agreed, it was the fastest car because it was on fresh rubber due to a 2 stopper

And you canít tell me that the setups are so differing that the fact that they canít get warmth into the tyres costs them 0.4 > 0.7s a lap in qualifying trim. Theyíre that slow because they just are.

Teams are not allowed to make setup changes (of significance) post qualy. You could run a very agressive alignment for qualy that chews tyres in the race, although it would be silly to do so.

    You're right. 0.7s is speed.

How does a car from crushing the field by .7 of a second in Aus to .7 behind 3 weeks later in a fly away races where very little parts are coming?

Either everyone else got it very wrong in Aus or they are having some issues.

This. They just had a bad weekend. The end.

Letís also not forget that Botas was the fastest finisher on the alternate to RBR strategy. That Merc still has plenty of pace.

As HRD said the first stint is the best comparison as this where more equal.
