More TV week, they at least report readable content. Usually more driver content too

Hmm, maybe the Porsche thing isn't far fetched...Helmut Marko was a factory Porsche driver and won LeMans in a 917 in 1971. I can't really imagine Porsche in F1 and not Sportscars though.

Lots of talk of the 2021 engine regs, have they been made public?

    "Broad agreement" has.

    - A desire to maintain Formula 1 as the pinnacle of motorsport technology, and as a laboratory for developing technology that is relevant to road cars
    - Striving for future power units to be powerful, while becoming simpler and less costly to develop and produce
    - Improving the sound of the power units
    - A desire to allow drivers to drive harder at all times.

    Whats their contract though?
    Mclaren look even more fucked going to Renault, the Renault engine merely puts them in the race for the best of the rest;
Toro Rosso taking on Honda is a no lose situation on every level for RBR.

If Renault are not a genuine engine contender by the end of 2018 then really, what would they have to lose by going with Honda?
I cant see it as anything but a win-win for Red Bull, Renault were always going to give them the flick the moment they became a works team and they just found a paid stop gap that probably wont be worse than what they would of had.

Mclaren are about to take on the role Red Bull would of had; Running an engine without being a works team, only option is to build your own (which they will probably do)

Hmm lucky Dan only contracted till 2018.

he'll probably know by the end of FP1 in Melbourne if he starts making calls or not.

what does the FIA do if RB crack the shits and threaten to withdraw 4 cars from the grid?

Contract ends at the end of 2018 with a 2 year extension clause for 19 and 20. The extension was never formally announced, just expected. So Renault can easily pull out. The reason Sainz went to Renault is because TR pulled out 1 year early.

I am in to minds about the Honda stuff. They could easily have pulled out, and didn't which could indicate they have some decent upgrades coming for next year. However Mclaren have seen that data and arnt convinced. Honda are obviously determined to make it work in F1.

I don't think RBR will get sold off to Porsche in 2021. they are just silly season rumors. As a passionate F1 fan and team owner you don't go from have 4 cars and 2 teams in the field to 0 over night. However TR getting sold off is likely.

Big penalties for RB if they leave before 2020 I think it is.

What a pack of cunts those Frenchie fuckwits are. They get Sainz, a new engine customer, get to fuckoff Palmer and now they want to burn RBR over it? I really hope Renault goes nowhere next year (although id feel bad for Alonso)

Honda had better get their shit together soon. RBR has either played this brilliantly or totally fucked it up.

So Sainz and Hulkenberg. If Renault get their act together next year, this is a pretty good driver lineup.

I'm quite sure McLaren did their due diligence to committing to losing something like 100million per year to go with Renault. I think it speaks volumes for Honda's future in F1 and their ability to deliver a competitive engine. ie no chance whatsoever within another 2 years.

I think Honda are building to have their own team. The 2021 regs seem to be the key to more involvement from manufacturers.

which historically has meant them leaving 5 years after they start.

Didn't need this to happen to fuck off Palmer
Didn't need this to happen to keep current supply numbers

RBR never gave them credit during their title runs, and have slagged them off since 2014.. why should they stay beyond current contract?

Rbr never set any top speed records during 2010-2013. They pretty had the slowest straight line speed of the tops three teams.

Could be more to do with aero, doesn't Williams have the highest top speed on the straights currently?
