Very nice! Better make sure you run the approved supercharger!

Nice one CT. Glad to see you finally being able to drive it.

Totally agree with the crampness factor - for a massive car they are tiny inside.

    Enjoy it!

Amazing car, love the shape of these late model vette's and having a roaring v8 powering you around the track would be heaven. Such good pedigree in GT racing too. As far as GT cars go Porsches are my fav but this is a close second and if u told me i could buy and race one for significantly less than a Porsche i reckon i'd be a convert.

What sort of money did it cost you to get it here in your hands if you don't mind me asking? Pm if you'd prefer, i am genuinely interested.

I spent a fair amount of time in a mates one while in the states a couple of years ago. Very cool cars indeed. I also felt at ease with the LHD thing right away. To me it just feels right.

Yeh, the Katech stuff is nice but really exxy so I choose the APR Carbon lip and rear wing instead. Front lip is almost identical to the Katech one. The best I have seen is the LG Motorsports full splitter but again, rather exxy. I'd love to get the front bumper made in carbon with the splitter integrated so I can make it a quick remove jobbie, but it's pretty low on my priority list.

@Marlin - I have some more pics, but need to get sort through them as they are still on my phone. See what I can dig up.

So what websites would one look on to find a z06 vette either a cheap roadie to prep or a ready to roll race weapon?

    I've looked on ebay.com pistonheads.com racecarsforsale.com and nothing

But found this on my105 http://my105.com/listingdetails.aspx?id=7216

Would it be better not to buy a race ready one to ensure it is built to prod sports regs? I guess a stockish car with a cage would be best? But to buy a ready to race car would have to be the most cost effective?

I'm just dreaming at this stage lol but keen to get more familiar with these

That vette is a bargain - the EMCO is a $28k gearbox and used in the Le Mans C6Rs! Used to be priced at $110k that car. Best bet for cars are the Corvette forums or LG Motorsports or Katech's website. They often list cars for themselves and customers. Katech are selling a track weapon now on one of the forums. The bottom end for my next engine will come from Katech.

Buying race ready vs building is a tough call. Sometimes, you can get a bargain - other times it can be a clapped out junker. Engine and gearbox swaps are not uncommon. Me personally, I prefer to buy a low klm, unmodified street car and do the mods myself to make sure they are done right. Also, many US cages do not pass CAMS and need to be redone in my experience.

Sweet, yep i saw the katech website actually, there are a few on there. I agree the biggest issue buying a racecar is the cage issue. As long as it is FIA approved it would prob be ok. Guess it depends if it's just a simple track car or a national/state level race car. More likely to be a proper cams legit cage if the latter..

Also what's the go with super chargers and corvette's vs prod sports and Gt category rules? I assume it would be illegal to supercharge the LS7 z06 engine as it was never sold with one? But perhaps ok to swap to the 6.2 and supercharge that al la ZR1?? Not that you would tho, nothing much would be better than a 7ltr v8 on full song!

ZR1 is not on the CAMS approved list for 2B cars - Z06 is. Cannot do engine swaps for 2B prod sports - must use the stock engine and config as per OEM. FIA cages are a bit of a furphy - unless the car was built for FIA GT3 or 24hr FIA enduros, the cage would unlikely be FIA badged and certified. GT and prod sports are very similar rules except that Prod Sports I think has more freedoms - haven't really looked at it in great detail though.

Good to see another Corvette on the track looks great CT. I bought a C5 Z06 race car out the US last year. Will be ready to run in the next few months just giving it a once over and respray, Had no problems getting it imported as it had the NASA and SCCA log books. Have had CAMS guy inspect the cage and only need to put the diagonal roof bar in and will pass. CAMS dont have an issue with the NASCAR style side intrusion bars.
Sure we will see each other at the track some time

CT is mid pack amongst a gaggle of cup cars at the Prod Sports meet today at SMP. Doing some decent times there on the full track, must be a hoot to stretch the vette's legs on the straight! CT please report!
