Looks like Orange is a winner, that is what I was thinking anyhow...

Now time to get down to the actual work.

Gearbox assembly and Paint removal for starters.

It has again been a while since the last post on this car. quite a bit has happened, but it is still far from complete.

Engine rebuild started, needed new pistons. Ordered them (needed to be custom made) Told 6 weeks for delivery, pay up front. Delivery ended up around 18 months.
More engine work still in progress.

In a bigger change, I sold the yellow shell to a guy building a Mk1 Tarmac rally car. I did this as I had found a car in better condition, that had already been sand blasted and was further along that my car was.

I have bought some Gaz rear coil over dampers for the turret rear end going in the car (not the best, but good enough)

So now the car body work has finally begun!

Hopefully the body work is complete towards the end of the year.

the standard group 4 fare. turrets, 4 link, coil overs and watts link in the rear

adjustable arms on modified front struts front

probably nissan 4 spot calipers front, with GTR rears.

I havent really considered brakes yet, other than the pedal box itself which is the one with the pedals from the Panoz Le Mans car.

Rear trailing arm boxes are in.

Watts link mounts I think are done.

the diff is about to be cut up to mount the trailing arm brackets

    Turret mounts are in

Trying to work out what to do with the front seats. As it is going to have no roll cage, i might as well have the back seat useable for family outings...
so I need to find a decent pair of seats that can flick forward to get access to the rear. This has basically ruled our all of the seats I had planned to use, which are fixed back racing seats...

I also want the interior to look complete and consistent, so I intend to try to match the materials across front and rear seats, and probably door trims...

So does anyone know of a decent flick forward seat (race type I guess). It needs to be from a road car, or otherwise ADR approved so that I can get engineering approval...

If memory is correct in NSW you only require one that flips forward, so you could have a fixed back seat for the drivers side. Might be worth checking if Victoria is the same

Something out of one of the Renault sports? GTR seats? S2000 seats flip forward don't they?
"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."

Although tripper your point makes sense, I really want to avoid the look in the car of the drivers seat being different, as I feel that it looks a bit half arsed.

The car is intended to look consistent, so I am going to try to get the same look in all seats..

Renault.. that is one I haven't considered...

Renault is a good idea, my Megane RS (2012) leather Recaro's are very race like bucket seats and flip forward.

Mmmm fishnet Recaros... that 70's feel.

Some of the newer Recaros look ok, but dont seem to be ADR approved if they weren't in a road car.

The renault recaros look great, but there doesnt seem to be too many around -

saw some golf seats, but he wanted $4500 for the pair... probably a bit exxy.

Have been playing with the layout for the MoTeC Dash, this is what I am thinking.

the YB is together, but during final assembly the thread pulled out of the head where the belt tensioner is... this has put the engine back a little whilst we try to repair the head.

Brand new front guards have been sourced and are currently being modified to add the steel flares to them.

Still hoping to be running by the end of this year.

That's awesome. Using a Motec race dash to display 70's woodgrain.

I am not sure why it is not compatible?
maybe the YB is extremely unlikely to see 20,000ks before blowing up in a smoking pile of money.

I must admit I just checked the prices of the Motec dashes because of digital 70's woodgrain.

    Looks awesome!

It's only a YB - it's not like it's a BDG or BDT - Tacho doesn't seem too far out of whack?

I've only been involved with 2 YBs before and they got into the 9s but not overly stock admittedly

I just remembered that it's a stinking hot N/A unit, not a RS500 8 injector YB Turbo... so yeah, Tacho should go to 11 no?
