Decided to go the HKS super turbo stainless 85mm exhaust delivered from japan. was a bit cheaper than what Cleveland exhaust were going to do in mild steel 3.5 inch and i'd have to take a day and the next morning off work to get it done (live on the gold coast)

should arrive tomorrow, fit it this weekend. if it's still to loud then the jokes on me from not doing it right at cleveland the first time.. we'll see.

Was 1200 delivered from japan. Cleveland said a custom 3.5 inch mild steel cat back was going to be circa 1300.

New exhaust has gone on...very quiet below 3500rpm crusing highway is like stock .. And still has a solid bark when you're really up it. Very happy with the result.

Yep! Only issue is there is a LOT of underbody chassis bracing under the car.. The one that is braces the rear struts across the tail shaft tunnel fouls on the exhaust over jarring bumps.. Either need to get a custom one made up with more clearance or super high temp rubber maybe?

Ive been having some issues when driving hard of filling up the catch can, and there is a lot of oil vapour coming out the breathers so I fitted a 3 way baffle to the heads with e85 tolerant foam. pics attached... my catch can used to leak through the sight glass in the catch can. it had those stupid pneumatic push lock fittings, which don't work in this configuration, so I replaced it with brass barbed fittings instead. hopefully there will be no oil to leak anymore!

after covers are off, move cam covers from position 3 and 4 to back of engine at 6 and 7. this is because the new vent entry is at the back, and we don't want oil being flung into it.

new covers with 3 way channel baffle.

stock covers, this is just a flat plate.

stock metal mesh to filter oil vapour.

new e85 resistant fuel cell foam to condense/filter vapours

RTV sealant, because they are too cheap to weld all the way along the seam.

    fully installed:

cant drive it for 24 hours to let RTV fully cure, but im hoping this makes a difference.

is that foam something that has been made for this situation or did you go to clark rubber and cut something up yourself.
    Looks seriously dodge.
Hope that foam doesn't fall apart and go on a journey through RB26land.

lol. not clark rubber special, It's high temp fuel cell foam that comes with the kit.

has it had the oil returns drilled out?
would help with the oil drain, but think that even then you still get a fair bit in the catch can.
I've seen setups with pumps to drain them and return to the sump

haha fuck, you cunts don't miss much.

and Fatz, yea it has a catch can, but no sump return.

as far as oil mods to block I am unsure, its rebuilt with forged internals and a Greddy Oil pump, I would hope a head restrictor has been used, as for drain galleries, who knows. receipts don't show much detail. might give the builder a call. was done a few years ago though.

planning to do a QR open practice day soon. will do 1 lap, come in and check can, do 2 laps, check can. so I can get an idea of how much it blows... fuck there is a lot of shit about oil control in 26s on the net.. its giving me more paranoia than when I tracked a turbo rotary.

    rebuilt forged engine
    264 cams
    head has been ported
    coilovers
18x10 TE37s with dangerously crap tyres (was wet today)
    Power FC with Z32 afms
OS giken twin plate that rattles
    exhaust that is too loud
    big rad
    big cooler
    2860-5 turbos or someshit
    eboost2

other stuff i dont know about, getting all reciepts and parts list from previous owner this weekend.

makes about 500hp @ wheels on 21psi according to a dyno sheet i was given. feels pretty quick!

goddamn GTRs. im already googling for upgrade parts and i've owned it for 3 hours.
Nice clean car, and sounds like you are making it much better Love your rims

I have had a Black r34 for 7 months, it is a DD, came with worked motor and stuff, had a T78 -33D on it + an OS Quad clutch , then @337awkw but did shit until late 5k, pig to drive in traffic and laggy as shit, changed to a PT6262 , poncams B and 3.5" custom exhaust system, only went to 345awkw, more initial torque and on hard at 4.3K and goes to the limiter 9.5k if you want to trash it but SO much better to drive.
BUT not good enough, so going for an RB30 block/Nitto 3.2 Stroker build, 260x10.8 custom cams and adding some glue to the road with a Nismo 2-way LSD back and the Quaife front diff.
Should be an angry little ride sounds like you know what you are doing, I just suss the parts I want to put together and get someone the toss it in, too old for that shit )
Looking forward to watch your build, all the best

if you track it just work backwards

3 laps with a red line of 8k
if the can is full back the revs off
    3 laps with 7500
    and so on
once you hit 6500 rev limit and still filling the can start turning down the boost
typically under 1 bar of boost you can thrash them all day keeping it under 7k

also when you start hitting the lower rev limit bump the oil thickness up
    start at 10-50
    go to a 15-60
    then 20-60

Awesome car, old man had a blue 34 a few years ago but we never enjoyed it much as it was babied around. Good choice of exhaust too.

thanks for all the nice comments and info on the oil fellas, car is very responsive and im very happy with it! thought the turbos must have been tiny ones because it starts making boost around 2.5k, full boost at about 3.5k..

finally got a phone small enough to get a picture of the model number of the turbos...

they're definately GT2860R-5's.. which are the ones i wanted on there, i thought the dyno sheets were bullshit making 400+kw on GT2560s (which is what i was told they were).. so that's why. these are efficient up to 30+psi, rather than 22 or so of the 2560s that i was told were in it... so its Haltech+E85 time. i dont think the 770cc injectors will cut it though!

also just got some DBA5000 and project mu HC800 pads.. so im nearly ready for the track... just need some tyres.. currently has shit nexan N6000 that it just fries in the first 3 gears.

as far as filling the can goes, dropping rev limit seems a bit shit... is the solution for a practical track car a can that plumbs back into the sump and an oversize sump?

yea plumb back can with 2 dash 12 to the sump is your friend

-5 can go up to 475rwkw when pushed
you must have a semi heathly motor to be makeing 400rwkw so nice score

Thoughts on the use of steel wool/pot scourers in catch can if it's returning to the sump?

I've got something in there to try to condense the vapours/stop spray out the breather.

That's awesome. Full boost at 3500rpm is pretty much what I get with stock turbos! Those cams and head work must make all the difference.

    I guess so!

Car feels quicker with new exhaust, don't really look at the boost gauge when at full boost foot to the floor, but it's over boosting now. Just found the eboost 2 manual, so I'll have a play today.. Wide and bung goes in the exhaust this afternoon so I can hook up the lc-1 and have a play. Trying to find the box of deutch motor sport plugs I've got somewhere to do it neatly.

Thought I'd update this thread so I could look back on what I've done.. Did a track day at QR and at 14psi car went great. Turned up boost to 17 and after a couple of laps, catch can full and oil spat everywhere. I'm talking 1.5l in catch can. Also 130 degree oil... So I've bought a few things in bits and bobs over the last month...

Nismo oil cooler ductwork and carbon bumper intake and vent

Setrab 25 row and greddy remote filter thermostat block

Bosch ev14 1000s, fuel rail and fittings

DBA5000s and project mu HC800 pads

    Carbon radiator panel

    Quantum T3-CR coilovers

Ordered a dual saikou michi oil separator. This will go above rear turbo with some heat shield. I'm connecting this to cam cover breathers (one can for each vent to reduce gas velocity) then out to normal catch can near drivers head light. these separators will drain to rear turbo oil drain. Quite a few weeks wait for this though.. This is plan A since I have a stock sump and don't want to pull the motor just to add an oil drain.. If this doesn't work plan B means pulling the motor and whacking in an extended sump with vent port on drivers side and drain port on passenger side.

Nothing against Scotty's workmanship or anything but that is seriously good value for an imported S/S name brand jap system at $1200 new. I'd have pegged it somewhere near $2k landed at a guess. Where did you get it from?
