Was a proper racer back in the 80's, young bloke bought it & got it registered, it had just passed it's MOT so he wanted to take it out for some runs.

4.0L six with an Eaton M90 under the bonnet, straight out of an XJR6. I liked it.

Agree. I really wanted to own that car. You can't own them all.

Front one is a Costin bodied Lister Jag, not D-Type.

Am I the only one who reckons the 6 sounds better than the V8? Suits the car much better imo.

We did say get the V6-S, didn't we?

Actually, here's a bit of random trivia for you. The Jag AJ126 V6 is actually the same physical size as the AJ133 V8. The external mould of the block is shared between the two, but when it's cast as a V6 they use different inserts. It's quite possibly the wierdest V6 engine design in the world. The heads are cast in a similar fashion using the V8 external dimensions. So it's a 90 vee like the V8, which probably contributes to the exhaust note.

    More random stuff...

Arden's AJ5 Biturbo 3.6L, two tiny little turbo's brought the power up from 201bhp to 330bhp.

My old mechanic in Switzerland has one of these dumped out the back of his workshop, "i'll get 'round to it one day" he says...

anyone got a list of the tag numbers and what they mean on the back of an XJ6/XJ12 IRS?

I bought a complete hub to hub assembly with the subframe etc on the weekend. Doesn't have the Power Lok tag but it looks like has 305B on a tag. Does that mean 3.05 diff ratio?

I know the early prototypes used the AJ133 block and internals with a custom crank. So basically two redundant cylinders at the back. I left just after the late prototypes were built and didn't check but they definitely meant to have a custom V6 block so they are smaller. I'd be surprised if they changed that direction.
Definitely same family of engines though.
