Not to mention the wedding car fleet of 3x sedans & 1x drophead MK V's that's been advertised for yonks...

If the UK/EU/US prices are anything to go by, the cars in Australia (both MK IV and MK V) are really underpriced...
    Do eet

Drop heads are still around the $70k (rough needs work) to $100k mark.

I know of a very very nice one for sale on the grapevine that I would love, but is a $90k car and I am not yet of those means like Cal is.

    Still, i'd fucking love one.
We had a MK V as our wedding car in Sydney, was a scorching day, but the car had aircon fitted (and it was running a Red 202 & Trimatic) so it wasn't so bad...
A heap of dynamat under the carpets would help I guess...

I just don't feel the same way about the shape of the MK V compared to the MK IV...

    The suicide rear doors
The rear roof line being so square, with the single window in the rear door
    The big floating headlamps
The way the windscreen folds out

It's just a more classic shape....

i've seen complete restorable MKIV's, MKV's and MKVII's go between $1000 and $6000. I'd happily do up one in art deco rod style.

    Point me to $1000 MkIV!

I suspect there were a few MkIVs chopped up into SS100 replicas too, doesn't help with the number of survivors.
"Where can we get hold of a Vincent Black Shadow?" "Whats that?" "A fantastic bike," I said. "The new model is something like two thousand cubic inches, developing two hundred brake-horsepower at four thousand revolutions per minute on a magnesium frame with two styrofoam seats and a total curb weight of exactly two hundred pounds."

Next time you see one, give me a call dammit....

But, in a MK IV it has to be a 2 or 3 litre, the 1 litre has a much shorter nose & is much less desireable...

I offered my neighbor $7000 and he could borrow it whenever he liked once I finished it, but no go, he still reckoned it was worth heaps.

He will never finish it. Just needs assembly and retrim. Everything else has been reconditioned / resprayed.

A 1 1/2 litre with the body shortened into a 2 door coupe hotrod with an XK engine would be hot.

The 1 1/2 litres also only got Lucas P80 headlights instead of the Monster P100s.

xjc's with lows and big wheels may be against the spirit of this thread but lsx/6l80 and modcons in one is one hell of a pipedream

That's nicely done. I like how they put the later model XJR wheels on it, kind of looks like it was meant to be like that.

A few years ago I came damn close to buying an XJS coupe with 1/2 done chev conversion, had been sitting for a good 10 years & was rough, but body was good.
Came to my senses just in time, thoughts of a single turbo SBC, black on black & fkn low.
