Fuck me that looks way too tidy to cut up.

Can you carefully un-stitch the original firewall so it can be put back in later ?

Yep. I almost happy to just blank off the brake line and keep going on 3 brakes but there's no guarantee that the axle will stay in. Also thought about swapping the rear disc from the left to the right as that axle seems okay but the shop isn't happy about doing that. Also thought about Welding the broken one back together but they don't have a lathe.
Ps using a phone to type stuff in Sucks.

Your gonna be changing the diff anyways. Could always peen/weld the bearing to the axle.

Yep I'm getting the guys at the workshop here to weld a few spots of MIG to the locking rings to make sure they stay put. They are also looking for a standard Escort diff centre, fingers crossed. The new disc had arrived and should be good, the wheel bearing is still a few hours away. Looks like I won't even make Canberra tonight.

Good luck Bill. It's a long drive I've done many times in 30+ year old cars. Hopefully this is the only trouble you have.

Hey can you guys please ask around to see if anyone in Canberra has a standard mk2 Escort diff centre? Got a mate there I can drop it to, to swap it over.
Call me on 0430-133644 if you find anything.

At the moment the car is doing 3800 rpm at 85 kmh, with a stock 3.54 centre it'd do 3300 at 100 kmh.

    There's also here:
    http://www.fordforums.com.au/forumdisplay.php?f=80

I have a AFF login but i think i got banned from that entire section (small and medium fords) for bagging out gaylords in Focii for putting fake brake discs on their shitboxes.
